As usual the root of the matter is their extortion and violence on innocent citizens. They must stop bribery and bullying..if they face their work no one would burn their station |

The people that ARE CLOSE TO MAKINDE and his apologists on Nairaland should advice him to address the press today and shun the act of "satanic silence" on issues like this. This is the way SARS started their nonsense and continued because people in authority seemed un-bothered. The Governor should ensure that the culprit is arrested to face justice. |

KnightsTemplar: You are very correct. But trust me, we do not think in the right direction here and when things happen, you start hearing analysis, postulations and the rest. That axis is more or less a keg of gun powder waiting to explode. UNFORTUNATELY IT IS LESS THAT A KILOMETER TO THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE. |

Ryan03: The last Lance corporal I met said the problem started when there was a joint operation with Police/mopol the extortion rather became a virus n spread fast even within the Army when they saw how fat police were feeding on extortion |

thatsleepboy1: Unfortunately and in my opinion #EndSARS was a waste of time and life. People just died for nothing. Nigeria is not ready for change. Many have died in this struggle for a better Nigeria. Of note is Mrs. Kuti. I’m not sure how we will finally solve our issues outside of a full out civil war. |

Sanchez01: Burning police stations is not just the right way to go. When police stations are burnt, hoodlums take advantage to further unleash terror on ordinary citizens on the street and the burnt stations with be rebuilt by tax payers' money. So to me, it's a lose-lose situation. 1 Like |

tyup:lol, so you are blaming the police for the corruption in the army? That means you can steal if you see people stealing simply because they look better than you. Who should the police blame for it's corruption now? Maybe we should blame Nigerian politicians, and those ones will blame their ancestors. See blame game |

Odetokun3: So extorting money from them is the right way to go? If the Prison warders have done their work professionally from day one, no Okada Rider will station his Okada at the gate of the such sensitive facility.. This is what you get for compromising ethics. |

The only way to end the present clash between police and aggrieved citizens is for the police force to be restructured in their rules of engagement. The statement credited to the IG of police after the endsars protest is not helping matters. He said that the police should defend themselves. The statement is uncalled for. So the police are armed with the mindset that they are in a war with the people. This will off course encourage them to continue to bully and kill people. And the aggrieved citizens will also want to fight back. This is not good for the country. The IG should be changed and someone with intelligent mind and good relationship skills should replace him. All he sees is war and this is what he is getting. He should be reminded that they are outnumbered. A few persons well armed can sack an entire police station. Let the police begin to treat people well. Do their jobs without demanding bribes. Stop extra judicial killings. Protect the weak in the society. Be quick to respond to distress calls without demanding for mobilization. Over time, there will be peace and harmony. |
