I help my friend in housing his Lhasa when he was a puppy for 5 days we played chasing during these 5days I feed him and bath him. We both moved out of the street for over a year now my place is not too far from his but I hardly go there went there last month and the dog could sense that I’m around he was already the barking and wagging his tail before the door was opened for me, I last saw him and played with him early this year. It’s not just the face, I think the scent matters a lot too

not true bro. I thought the same too until my sister came visiting. it has been almost a year she saw my dog last. surprisingly my dog was jumping happily to see her. I believe dogs work with scent and voice than face. that's why when you apply a different perfume they'll smell you all day.

Dogs like elephants do not forget at all, a neighbor had a puppy which was generally loved and catered for by all members of the compound, less than a month later, everybody packed out of the compound, all to different destinations, in about a year and half later, i went to a compound to do something in another environ, lo and behold "Atiku" for that was the dog's name and she was damn crazy when she saw me, she was jumping all over me wagging tail and hugging ; it happened that she just whelped the previous night, to the landlord's surprise, i followed her to where the pups where and even carried some of them in my hand ; the landlord who is a friend couldn't make a thing out of what was on display before him, until the owner showed up and was shocked too because the dog is a very hostile one towards strangers.
I was later gifted a pup out of the batch

my sister had a dog she breed as a puppy to adult...she later sold due to her getting married and relocating to another state...after some period...roughly a year plus...she went back to the state and decided to visit the person she sold the dog to...the dog wont even let her come close...he dint recognize her again. this was a dog she took care of from puppy stage...dog that was so attached to her it would not even leave her side.

Dogs can never forget you till he dies. Talking from experience. I didn't even take care of Willy till adult. Just 6 months and left him for a year plus. Only my voice the dog was crazy. I was surprised he recognized me.

indirectly your saying the same thing I said...they do eventually forget....the reason I quoted that guy was 'cos he said "lai lai". I have similar experiences with guys too...and as you stated scents can confuse them...that's why you see some sniffing and re sniffing at times....the crux of the matter is they do forget...I think you agree on that?
