The Canadian government just announced yesterday that its Visa Application centres VACs in India will resume today on November 20 th .
Government in a new post on Twitter accounted that they will soon schedule biometrics appointments in Delhi, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Mumbai, Ahmadabad and Bengaluru.

These appointments will prioritize the International students and family class sponsorship applications.

Resuming biometrics scan for immigrants would be the last big hurdle in the way for people in India exempt from travel restrictions enabling them travelling and settling in Canada


The travel restrictions in Canada does not apply to the international students and family class immigrants as well as the skilled workers. With the VACs resuming the biometric data entry, those who are exempt from the travel restriction will be able to submit their biometrics so they can complete the immigration application in favour of their eventual arrival to Canada

The government in its latest tweet wrote:

“(1/4) VAC Update

VACs will begin scheduling limited biometric appointments as of November 20 th in Delhi, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad & Bengaluru. Family Class Applicants and study permit principal applicants will have priority as we phase in services.”

Government however clarified that you cannot just walk in to the VAC centre, as appointments are mandatory, and need to be booked in advanced before you get the date to visit the VAC.

If you are eligible and have done your due diligence, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada will issue you a unique Biometric Instructions Letter to you, and you will receive the instructions on how to proceed in your personal Email you make available to IRCC.

Government concluded by saying that more appointments will gradually become available through the weeks as they phase in its services.

India as of now is the leading source of immigrants and international students for Canada.

In 2019 Canada welcomed over 85,000 immigrants from India which was one quarter of the 341,000 immigrants admitted by Canada in that year.
Last year Canada welcomed 220,000 international students which is a little over one third of the 640,000 new permanent residents admitted by Canada.

Biometrics are usual required for foreign nationals that are looking to obtain a visitor visa, study permit, work permit, permanent resident, a visitor record, refugee or asylum status or are seeking an extension to their work or study permit. They need to submit their fingerprints and photographs and also pay a fee. The purpose of collecting biometrics is to enable Canada to confirm the identity of the foreign travellers when they enter the country.
