Roma got stunned during the week following the discovery of World War II bomb devices somewhere at their training ground. Club officials immediately called on the Italian army bomb squad to help remove the devices which were buried in the turf during work to build new pitches at the complex.

According to Italian outlet Il Messagero via SunSport, the devices which were about 20 foot long were unearthed as the club tweeted with their official account with a picture showing soldiers removing the relics.

A club statement on Saturday said: "Well, this doesn’t happen every day. A big thank you to the Italian army and their bomb squad, after they safely and successfully removed a number of devices dating back to the Second World War from the club’s training centre at Trigoria this week!"

Wow! That was disaster waiting to happen... A warhead will always be deadly if not detonated/defused

Those bombs must have been there since the brief period between 1943 and 1944 when the Allies and the Axis powers (led by Nazi Germany). A period sometimes known as the Bombing of Rome.

If those bombs have been there since the 1943, then they were most likely dropped by the Allies(in a bid to force out the Fascist government of Mussolini).

On the other hand, if they have been there since 1944, then they were most likely dropped in that particular location by Italy's former World War II allies, the Germans.

But, if you ask me, they were most likely dropped there by the Allies because the Allies did not bomb Rome all that much. It was brief.

Meanwhile, the devices were actually 1 foot long- the length of the ruler on the table before me- and not 20 foot as stated in this post.

Feel free to look up the pictures of the bombs yourselves online and tell me if they are up to 20 ft. WTF.

You don't want to take the chance.

Unexploded WW II bombs are a threat any time any day.

Have you ever heard of the term: Iron harvest?

As recently as 1998, unexploded World War One bombs killed 2 farmers in Belgium when they suddenly went kaboom! And these are World War Two bombs(the ones recently discovered in Rome). Now, you do the maths.
