Federal government of Nigeria in 2015 issued out series of licenses for private investors into the downstream sector through the creation of Modular Refineries to complement the moribund national refineries. This Edo refinery is among the licenses issued out. WalterSmith modular refinery was commissioned by the President on 24th November 2020 while Edo modular refinery awaits completion.
