Campaign D-G Laments Absence of Issue-Based Campaign by Opposition Says They Depend On Litigation
Director-General, Ikedi Ohakim campaign organisation, Hon. Ralph Obioha has said that Governor Ikedi Ohakim’s campaign will remain issue-driven, lambasting opposition for lack of genuine agenda that will develop Imo state.
Also he cajoled the opposition parties for not embarking on campaign, revealing that they are waiting to go to court to make noise after the conduct of the election.
Obioha told Daily Independent that the campaign strategy of Ohakim will remain issue-driven unlike those of the opponents, saying that the roadmap for the development of the state is well articulated in the governor’s blueprint to raise leadership bar.
The former federal lawmaker said the opposition have refused to embark on serious campaign to convince Imo people on their vision for the state, submitting that they are merely waiting to make noise by challenging the outcome of the election.
‘’We have done almost two-third of the local governments in our campaign and the question now is where are the opponents? We have been trying to see whether they are anywhere but we hear that they are now preparing to start what they do best and that is to start challenging the outcome of the election after the election itself and we are not bothered by that. There is absence of issue-based campaign from the opposition.
‘’ The people of Imo will overwhelmingly give their mandate to Ikedi Ohakim for a second term. From what we have observed by the enthusiasm and support and the mood of the people they have shown appreciation on what the young man (Ohakim) has been able to achieve in the last 4years and all are gearing up to cast their votes massively for him to complete his second term.
‘’ My assessment of the campaign so far is that it is being conducted in the most orderly manner. We pledged this at the beginning of the campaign that our campaign will be issue- driven and we have avoided anything that could raise any kind of tuggery, we also asked our opponents to try to avoid it. After the elections of April 16th there will still be Imo state on the 17th of April and we want a peaceful orderly Imo state thereafter’’ he noted.
