Last week, the military authority released names of officers and men promoted to a new and higher rank in the army. Though the slaughtering of over forty farmers by the Boko Haram insurgents in the North east few days after the news of the promotions tend to have dimmed the light off the promotion, and did not allowed Nigerians the chance to discuss its imports to the polity of the military and to the nation at large, there is an important need to revisit that event and take a look at it as it were “as e still dey hurt”
