See 10 great players who has "never received a red card''

In this day and age, with footballers' careers hitting - and in some cases exceeding - 20 years, it's hard to fathom not having at least one rush of blood to the head.

Physicality is a part of the game, but these players played fair throughout their careers.

With football becoming extremely physical, it is not uncommon for players to receive a red card mid-match for violating the code of conduct. May that be either by getting too aggressive on the pitch with the opposition or getting on the bad side of the referees. Players tend to lose their temper at the slightest provocation especially in high pressure football games.

It is even more difficult when you conceive the idea of a player going his entire career without ever getting red-carded. However, the fact is that, some players have impressively managed to achieve this feat, which is very rare for footballers.

These are footballers who astonishingly managed to complete their careers without ever getting a red card.
Even then, there are some players who have managed to go through an entire career without ever being dismissed. Here we look at ten such players put up their best behaviour throughout their footballing careers-

(10) Raul Gonzalez

Spain legend Raul Gonzalez built quite a reputation for himself during his active playing days. The striker started his career with Real Madrid in 1994 and went on to play for the Blancos for two decades.
One thing that has been synonymous with Raul’s career is goals. He has scored lots of them wherever he’s been, even becoming Real Madrid’s all-time top-scorer with 232 goals, before his record was eventually broken by the impeccable Cristiano Ronaldo.

But for all of Raul’s goals, his disciplinary record is also another part of his game that is very commendable. The former Spain international played almost 900 games without ever receiving a red card. He remains one of the ‘cleanest’ players football has seen.

(9) Damien Duff

Duff, the former Blackburn, Chelsea, Newcastle and Fulham winger, has never seen a red card in his career despite spending most of his career in the hustle and bustle of the Premier League. He plied his trade in the top division for 18 years and despite spending 14 of those years at clubs that weren’t really at the top, he never once was ejected from a match.
His disciplinary record, to not have been sent off as yet, is highly commendable. Similar players - pacey, explosive wingers - have ratcheted small mountains of red cards, due to their inability to control their emotions when fouled, or because of their inept defending. Duff would often be seen running up and down the pitch, working hard, covering every blade of grass and basically nobody would have ever blamed him if he got sent off, but Duff never succumbed.

No, he was different. Almost a saint compared to the uncouth bruisers he found himself in teams with.

(cool Gary Lineker

The former Spurs , Barcelona and Leicester City forward was not only one of the best strikers but also has never gotten sent off. A 16 year-long career amounting to 567 matches and 281 goals isn’t the only impressive feat of this man’s career. The Leicester-born star was able to finish his impressive football career with a special feather on his cap by not receiving a single red card during his tenure.
Now days, Gary Lineker is seen more as a broadcaster, as he used to host the BBC’s Match of the Day, and currently hosts the coverage of the UEFA Champions League on BT Sport. However, the 58-year-old used to be a celebrated footballer, too.

(7) Philip Lahm

Lahm finished his career without ever being sent off, despite playing more than 400 games for club and country. This is one of the reasons why he is so much respected in and outside Germany. Lahm stood for more than just football and it is this clam-headed attribute that has led him to become a businessman after his football career.
The Bayern and German legend is widely regarded as one of the greatest RB and despite being a Defender has never had a Red card in his career.

In fact, the former Bayern man retired as one of the most decorated right-backs the game has ever seen and his reputation also remains intact, as far as disciplinary issues are concerned.

(6) Aaron Hugaswell

The defender is very much celebrated due to his impeccable disciplinary record. Currently 39, he has lined up for eight clubs, including Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers (QPR).
Hughes amassed 455 appearances in the Premier League and also earned more than 100 caps for Northern Ireland, but never got himself sent off. The veteran defender is now plying his trade in Scotland for Hearts of Midlothian and his record still remains intact.

(4) Ryan giggs

Imagine going through a Premier League game. The emotions are high, so are the studs of the defender who is out to get you. The crowd is on your back. The referee may be an incompetent loon and every tackle feels like you've been hit by a truck. The 90 minutes don't feel like ending and frustration is just increasing. Finally the whistle blows, and relief. But wait, you have to do it again, next week. And again and again and again.
Now imagine doing it for 672 games stretching over a span of 24 years. That was the life of Ryan Giggs, and though the anger and the frustration and pain has been offset by victories and trophies, the ordeal of those 24 years wouldn't have been easy.

Giggs was very consistent in the most punishing football tournament in the world and despite its challenges, was never once been pushed to the brink of a red card. It would have required a heavenly amount of patience and composure and for it he should be celebrated along with all his other achievements.

(3) joao moutinho

The Portuguese midfielder is still continuing his career at Wolverhampton in England. At the moment, he has disputed 621 parties at the level of clubs and 113 with the absolute selection of Portugal. Among those games he has received 88 yellow cards, but without reaching expulsion.
Talk about artists on the pitch and Joao Moutinho’s name will definitely pop up among any top 10 list. The 33-year-old has paid his dues to football at both club and international level and is set to retire as one of the very disciplined players.

Moutinho has played across three different countries and is currently with Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers. In more than 400 games that he has played, the Portugal international is yet to receive a red card.

(2) Michel Platini

Widely regarded as the one Greatest of all time. Unlike his presidential career he has never been on the wrong side of discipline.
Regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Michel Platini won the Ballon d’Or thrice (1983,1984 and 1985). The Frenchman played 652 games for club and country without a single blemish. The former UEFA President is someone to play the game in it’s true fairness. During his time as a football player with no red card to his name. However, it is unlike his time as an administrator which was prematurely cut short due to violation of ethics.

(1) Andres Iniesta

Part of one of the greatest Midfield trio and Barcelona legend has never been send off aswell.
The current player of Vissel Kobe, a Japanese club, also stands out for never having been sent off with a red card. The Spanish midfielder has a career of 828 games between his time at FC Barcelona, the Spanish national team and his current team. During this trip, Iniesta received 66 yellow cards according to Transfermarkt, because the Spaniard has always stood out for his discipline in the field and his distance from controversies.
