Police arrest police for killing a man. This is Nigeria ��

The Nigerian police have arrested three cops for allegedly killing a man, Jude Oguzie, who was on his way to Owerri, Imo State, for a wedding reception.

IGBERE TV had reported that the man was killed in Imo State on Saturday by policemen on stop and search on the Owerri-Orlu Expressway.

A spokesperson for the police in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident.

Ikeokwu, a Superintendent of Police, in a statement, said the three policemen had been identified and arrested.

He said, “The Imo State Police Command has condemned the killing of one Jude Oguzie by operatives attached to the command on December 5, along the Njaba/Owerri Road.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Isaac Akinmoyede, wondered why the officers refused to adhere to the rules guiding the use of firearms.

“He, therefore, ordered investigation into the matter, with a view to unravelling the cause of the incident. The officers involved have, however, been identified, arrested and are presently in custody.

“The CP, while sympathising with the family of the deceased, urged them to remain calm, as the command would do everything possible to ensure that justice is done.

“The command regrets the killing of the deceased under any guise, especially now that the force is doing everything within its powers to put an end to incidents of brutality and incivility to members of the public.”

Police killed many innocent people in this country and government didn't do anything about it. The protest against American police after the dead of George Floyd open our eyes to say no to police brutality.

I have sent a mail

Useless police men. Last time i travelled they were still collecting bribes. Even increased the rate. They harrased people who refused to pay and delayed them for no good reason other than refusing to settle the boys. Shey people where asking them to come back and now they have. They've started their killing spree. The good ones among them are not up to 1%.

When the police arrest any suspect from the members of the public, the first thing they do is to parade them before newsmen. Why can’t tgey do likewise to their men in this case too. I don’t trust them a bit.

I really thank God for the EndSars. If it was before this victim would have been labeled as an armed robber and gun implanted on him to cover evidence. And no police officer will be held accountable, but now at least they can be held accountable. And the public are seriously concerned.
