Xiaomi unveiled MIUI 12 in late April in China. Since then, the company has been pushing the update in the form of beta and stable builds worldwide. Now, eight months later, the firm silently reveals that Redmi Y3, Redmi 7, Redmi 6, and Redmi 6A will not be updated to MIUI 12.

A month after the Chinese MIUI 12 launch conference, Xiaomi held a separate online event for global markets. At the end of this event, the company revealed the complete list of smartphones that will be getting MIUI 12.

The list included almost all the devices that launched in the last two years. Therefore, Redmi Y3, Redmi 7, Redmi 6, and Redmi 6A were part of it. But unfortunately, Xiaomi has removed these four handsets from the eligibility list after seven months since publishing it.

For those unaware, MIUI 12 on Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones differ by models. Not all devices support every feature and the availability of certain features differs by region as well. Because MIUI is a heavy Android skin like any other Chinese mobile UI, it requires more horsepower.

This is the primary reason why vivo OriginOS is limited to flagship as well as select mid-range smartphones.

Having said that, these four Redmi phones have been notorious for performance issues since their launch. Having personally used the Redmi 7 with MIUI 10 and MIUI 11, I know the pain.

But still, it’s terrible that these global best-sellers from Xiaomi have only received a single MIUI as well as Android updates. Also, the latter update (Android 10) is yet to roll out globally for Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3

mi max,mi max prime,mi max 2...... Not bad overall,,only bad side is camera.... especially front camera.

Performance is very good.

You see ehn, when it comes to updates; security patch and android os, you start with nokia (because of android one) and end with Samsung. Its surprising that Samsung will value its low entry level models like A10, A10s, A20 and A20s, gave them android 10, quarterly security patch and listed them to get android 11. Even the ordinary A01 and A01 core are getting android 11

It was updated to miui 11
And now android 10 and miui 12 are available for beta testers, definitely it'll receive miui 12 officially
And I've received tons of security patches in just one year of using it

Well this makes no sense. The redmi 7 isn't up to 2 years old. It just got one year miui update. I think it's time I dropped Xiaomi

Wonderful phone...@Redmi 7A. For the screen size of 6.3", we're on the same page. Carrying my Redmi Note 8 in my pocket is stressful on it's on.
