Imo state government has restated its commitment to continue providing free education for children in government-owned schools just as the re-election of Dr Ikedi Ohakim will ensure sustained good governance and development in the state.
The wife of Imo State governor, Mrs chioma Ohakim, made the assertion during an interactive town hall meeting with women from Ngor Okpala and Owerri Municipal local governments, respectively.
She explained that currently, there is a federal government policy that provides for free education for pupils in government owned schools under University Basic Education (UBE), while the state government has provided free education for junior secondary schools, while those in senior pay school fees.
He added that it is a token, adding that efforts are being made to provide free education for them as well.
The Imo First Lady condemned antics by desperate politicians in the state who promise free education for primary schools, saying they are only trying to confuse people and score cheap points. She described development as a gradual process which with time will get to every nook and cranny of the state, while urging Imo people to exercise patience as Governor Ikedi Ohakim is working towards making the state a modern-model state. She also said to ensure good road network especially at the rural areas, the government established the Road Maintenance Agency and promised to use her NGO, Empowerment for Women and Youth Initiative(EWANYI), to address the water problem affecting the Elelem community in Ngor Okpala if Governor Ohakim is re-elected for a second-term in office….

He had better shut up. What happened with his 10,000 jobs for the youths? He cross-carpeted from PPA to PDP because of the latter's rigging machineries, failure awaits him at the polls. One of them plenty thieves in power.

My friend, the 10,000 jobs for youth was a huge success!, It was only few people that was not qualified to get the job, people that were so unfortunate due to their incapacity.
