Hypocrites!!

But they're free to call A northerner onye ugwu, call a Yoruba man afonjaa or ndi Ofe mmanu!

People that are filled with hatred and bitterness!!

That's how they once attacked Teni for calling Erica omo igbo.

These people can't take 5% of what they're dishing out to other tribes on daily basis.

seems you take any opportunity you see to take a swipe at igbos, To the best of my knowledge most tribes in this country have a "derogatory"term, they use when referring to other tribes, it's not limited to igbos. It's not igbos that are calling out teni on this , but everyone that desires a good feature for the next generation of nigerians

Hmmm

This is so wrong...

Like someone pointed out, giving the present ethnic tension in the country, a supposedly casual usage of such derogatory word is uncalled for.

At a PSG champions League gain a couple of days ago, the fourth referee referred to a black coach as 'the black guy' & all hell was let loose.

Point is, be mindful of the usage of terms having regard for locations & situations...
but igbos are free to call Hausa aboki or mallam abi?
Hypocrites

Its like whites calling blacks NIGGER in America. A football match was abandoned the other day because Demba Ba was called a blackman by the 4th official. This one is even more offensive. I've said it and always maintained that the blackman's bigotry is second to no other

Nothing is wise about it. Ethnic banters are one thing, rubbing certain slurs on one's face is another. The word is derogatory and not a wise business move. And to think that it is coming at a time when ethnic gaps are getting wider on a daily, it is a wrong call.

Mavin shouldn't have let this slide. Don Jazzy is half Igbo and should have been abreast of the history of the name. This is a miss.

Well, l will agree that it is a sensitive title but in matters like this, it is the INTENT of the Speaker/Artist that one should look at and this can be got from the lyrics of the song.
So far, l cant see anything derogatory in the lyrics, written or intended, of the Artists.
But for extremely sensitive Igbos, it will not be a bad thing to not use such phrase.

And l also hope that Igbos learn a lesson or two from this because they are the ones who go about abusing other tribes, with ethnic lsurs.
You call Northerners 'maluu', 'boko haram', 'terrorist', etc
You call Yorubas 'cone-heads; 'Afonja', 'South West', Ofenmanu, etc.

Now you know how it feels, when you do it to others, even when this one was not intended and very mild.

Edit: I ensured l only listen to the song, after my post and now that l have listened to it, l think it i even complementary to Igbos.
She was eulogising an Nyamiri lover of hers and telling us how he lfexes and takes care of her expensively.
What is wrong with that?
Igbos should lighten up and not take themselves too seriously, nobody does. Enjoy the Rhythm and dance, abeg,
I like the Rhythm of the song.

Every Nigerian of different region has a name for Nigerians of other regions. Yorubas call Igbos okoro, Igbos/South-South call Hausas Aboki , Igbo call yorubas onye ofe mmanu

But when a public figure or celebrity calls a certain people a derogatory name in public it is a different matter altogether. If Psquare released a track and call Yorubas onye ofe nmanu or Hausas as Aboki, it will naturally generate a public outcry.

Are you too mentally corroded to spot the difference?

shut up!! Only the Igbos can boycot her for using the word Nyamiri...

No southern tribe will boycot her because of her using nyamiri in her song.

So you think yorubas, efiki, ibibos, ijaw will boycott her song because she used nyamiri in her song?

The West is the headquarter of music industry.

The east should start boycotting her songs let's see if she will fall... ndi Ara

I don even go download the song grin

Nigerians are the highest bunch of hypocrites in the whole universe. The same Nigerians who are quick to jump online and rant wen any issue of racism comes up anywhere in the world are the same ones who would tell U it is normal to refer to their fellow Nigerians by terms dat were know are offensive

Having grown up in the North, the way we talk about Igbo people while speaking Hausa is Inyamuri. I know it is derogatory, but the Hausa ward for 'Igbo' is Inyamuri.

We all called ourselves different names but it shouldn't be done openly in a manner that is capable of causing tension. You don't rub it in people's face..... That is wrong and should be condemned by all. I also think it's deliberately done to generate some attention for her failed music career, in any case, it's a bad move

Inyamuri: Typically how Northerners would refer to anyone of Igbo extraction.

Historically, it is pretty nasty and considered derogatory, considering how the name came to be.

ALTHOUGH, the lyrics do not ridicule, taunt, or laugh at any divide, its historical background is the problem.

Dija is definitely stupid for using such a bad name as iyamuri, she is not a student of history or maybe nobody taught her history if not why would she use a word as derogatory as that.

I was looking for this comment. Black man is quick to rub slurs on their faces and scream racism when another race does same.

Same way they call themselves "nigga" and cry wolf when it's coming from another race. If you as a black man does not respect yourself and your kin folk ,how will others respect you?. Anyone who sees this as ok has lost the moral ground to call anyone racist , tribalistic or even bigot.

As for the bolded ,I concur 100%
but is good to call Hausa man shoe shiner abi? Hypocrites
