Policeman who shot tricyclist dead in Rivers was supposed to submit his rifle that morning-Rivers CP



Yesterday, it was made known that there was riot Rukpoku area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State after a policeman, Obah, who was not supposed to be on duty shot dead a keke rider, after he refused to give him the N100 he demanded from him.

While the Rivers State Commissioner of Police was speaking about the sad incident yesterday on Channels Television, he said that Christopher Obah who shot the tricyclist dead was on illegal duty and that, he was supposed to submit his rifle to the Divisional Headquarters that morning, immediately he closed from the night duty he did but he did not, instead he decided to make use of it to extort money from motorist.

While the commisioner of police, Mr Joseph Gobum Mukan was further speaking, he said that immediately he shot the keke man dead, his colleagues who were nearby disarmed him and arrested him.

"Obah has been given orderly room trial yesterday and he will charged to court for murder this morning" says Joseph Gobum Mukan.

He said when the aggrieved keke riders were protesting the death of their colleague, he addressed them at the force headquarters and persuaded not to protest, as he assured them that justice will be given to the deceased who died untimely.

Expecting the Nigerian police to tell the truth is like expecting Lai Muhammed to do same. had it been that the killer cop has succeeded in extorting innocent people his superiors including this Commissioner of police would have demanded he give them his "return". but now that it is like this they are saying he is on illegal duty
