President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed shock and sadness at the death of Publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah, a man he describes as “a friend and ally.”
The President condoles with the media fraternity, the Nda-Isaiah family, friends and associates of the deceased, saying “the country has lost a man of conviction, a resolute and dogged believer in a better Nigeria.”
“He will be sorely missed. This is a massive fish gone out of the media ocean,” President Buhari further says of the pharmacist, renowned columnist, and one time presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The death of Sam Nda -Isaiah, a pharmacist-turned newspaper columnist, publisher and politician at the young age of 58 years is shocking to say the least.
Sam Nda-Isaiah fervently believed in the Nigerian project and this is reflected in his writings and the editorial focus and tone of his Leadership Newspaper.
His contributions as a public opinion shaper and principled politician are profound and have put his imprints on the Nigerian history despite his early home call.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. @femigbaja, has described as shocking and painful the sudden death of the publisher of the Leadership Newspaper, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah.
Gbajabiamila said with Nda-Isaiah's passing away, the Nigerian media industry has lost one of its committed pillars.
He said the Leadership publisher's death came at a time that the services of the media are needed most to promote unity among Nigerians.
The Speaker condoled with members of his immediate family, the management and staff of Leadership Newspaper, the Nigerian media industry, especially the Newspaper Proprietors' Association of Nigeria (NPAN), over the loss.
While praying for the repose of the soul of late Sam Nda-Isaiah, the Speaker said the late publisher would be remembered for contributing his quota toward Nigeria's development through the media. LATE SAM NDA-ISAIAH: A MONUMENTAL LOSS TO NIGERIA - NORTHERN GOVERNORS.
The Northern Governors Forum says it is devastated by the shocking news of the death of the Founder and Chairman of Leadership Newspapers Sam Nda-Isaiah who passed on at the age of 58.
Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau State Bako Lalong in a statement said the development is a monumental loss to Nigeria and the Northern Region.
Lalong said "this is a very sad development for the country as we have lost one of the most vibrant and courageous media entrepreneurs in Nigeria. Sam was a visionary man who believed in the unity, peace and progress of Nigeria. He did so through his writings and contributions reflected his passion for a strong democratic culture".
Governor Lalong also eulogised the late Sam who was a successful businessman and never afraid to dream big and venture into various fields. His big dreams led to the birth and nurturing of the Leadership Newspapers that has grown to become one of the leading newspapers in the Northern Region as well as the country at large.
Lalong said the deceased will be greatly missed for his patriotism, selflessness and courage in the service of Nigeria, as well as continue to be remembered for his great legacies of hardwork and mentorship which has inspired many youths to dream big and realise their ambitions.
While praying God to grant him eternal rest and comfort his family, friends and associates, Lalong urged management and staff of Leadership Newspaper and other businesses founded by the Late Sam Nda-Isaiah to remain diligent as they keep his dreams and legacies alive.

The late publisher was highly talented, hard working and focused entrepreneur whose publishing conglomerate is today the pride of the nation.
His newspaper titles have also been a vocal voice in advancing the country's quest for a durable democratic culture.

Is'haq Modibbo Kawu The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has described the death of Publisher of Leadership Group, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah as a monumental loss to the media and the nation.
In a statement released Saturday in Abuja, jointly signed by Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche and Ochiaka Ugwu, Chairman and Secretary of Council respectively, it noted that council received the news of the death of the publisher with rude shock.
It stated that the late Nda-Isaiah was not only a true friend of the council, who never missed any opportunity to engage the council, but also one personality whose doors were wide opened to the NUJ anytime for interactions and negotiation on labour issues.
According to the statement, “The former publisher would be remembered for his invaluable contributions to the growth of the Nigerian media, national discourse, development and passion for the dissemination of information which he achieved through his medium (Leadership Group with its many titles).
“The entire members of the NUJ FCT Council condole with the family of the visionary publisher, whose newspaper began a new approach to publication and gave the voiceless a voice to speak especially in the North. NUJ FCT Council Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has described the Founder, LEADERSHIP Newspapers and Chairman, late Sam Nda-Isaiah as a true patriot who, though a pharmacist by training, made indelible contributions to the growth of the media industry and offered jobs to hundreds of Nigerians through his companies.
Governor Ortom who spoke through the Chief Press Secretary Terver Akase said he received the news of the death of LEADERSHIP publisher with shock, describing it as painful to lose such a vibrant young man who has been contributing to the growth of the nation.
Ortom also send condolences to the government and people of Niger State, the LEADERSHIP newspaper family and the Nda-Isaiah family in particular.
The Governor prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the unfortunate loss. ”Nda-Isaiah had an unwavering belief in Nigeria and its ability to overcome its challenges and become a foremost member of the comity nations. For him, it was not just a belief, it was a mantra.
”He demonstrated his abiding faith in the country not just in words but indeed. Where many saw challenges, he saw an opportunity.
”Where many peddled fear, he preached hope. When many chose to fire darts, he opted to soothe nerves. He was indeed a great Nigeria and a true friend and brother,” he said.
Alhaji Mohammed said Nda-Isaiah’s can-do spirit saw him record success after success, either as a publisher, politician or an entrepreneur.
”We, as a people, are poorer without this visionary of a man. We can only take solace in the great legacy he left behind,” he said.
The Minister prayed that God will take Nda-Isaiah to his bosom and give strength and comfort to his family and friends in this dark moment. Bello made the remarks in a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lokoja.
The governor said that he was still struggling to come to terms with the reality of the death of the media icon, who died on Friday night in Abuja following a brief illness at the age of 58.
He described Nda-Isaiah as a “patriotic, quintessential and dogged media guru’’, who was passionate about the growth and development of his country, Nigeria.
The governor said that the deceased publisher, since the establishment of his newspaper in 2001, had used the medium to promote issues that engender peace, unity and overall development of Nigeria.
“We can visibly notice your patriotism for our great country right from the slogan of your newspaper, which is ‘For God and Country’.
“You have demonstrated uncommon passion and patriotic zeal in the defence of Nigeria through your style of reportage.
“You were a leading light and torch-bearer as far as Nigeria’s media landscape is concerned.
“Your courage and fearlessness in defending the truth remain unprecedented.
“You have left behind a great vacuum difficult to fill,’’ Bello said.
He held that his administration since inception in 2016, had enjoyed a robust relationship with the Leadership Newspaper under the chairmanship of Sam Nda-Isaiah.
The newspaper and its publisher, according to the governor, had been very supportive in terms of effective coverage and reportage of the achievements and gains of his administration over the last five years.
He expressed the sympathies of the government and people of Kogi to the family of the late publisher, management and staff of the newspaper as well as friends and well-wishers of Nda-Isaiah over the sad loss.
He prayed to God to grant his soul eternal rest and fortitude for his family, loved ones and well-wishers to bear the irreparable loss. SOURCE |
