What is an ectopic pregnancy?

It is a pregnancy in which the fertilised egg implants outside the uterus or womb. The fertilised egg can't survive outside the uterus. If left to grow, it may damage nearby organs and cause life-threatening loss of blood.

An ectopic pregnancy is detected by Ultrasound. The earlier this is detected, the better its changes of being rectified through surgery.
