Good day, my fellow nairaladers. I earnestly need your advice on a mind-troubling issue.

I am in my very early 20s and from a state in the North-Central, I schooled there too. I finished serving my father's land in one of the North-Western states October 15th, this year. After my POP, I stayed back a bit, for a possible job prospect. While there, I took my time to submit my CV around, with hope, and luckily for me, I got one.

The organization offered me an accommodation with a starting salary of 70k, with a possible increase early next year. Mind you, the cost of living there is expressly cheap, I mean cheaply cheap.

To cut the long story short, I didn't take the job. The reason? My mum was really perturbed about the level of insecurity there and that's true. Igbos and Hausas there has a clash once in my street. It took a governmental intervention it didn't magnify.

With my mum's skepticism, I am back home (in that North-Central state). Here too, I have sent my CV out and hopeful of a possible call-up.

The issue now is, ever since I got home, I have been totally sick of home. A part of me just wants to go out and hustle. Plus, the disrespect is getting much for me to bear here.

Long story short, last week, my ex came around for a ceremony in my city. We met and got talking. She noticed the languidness in my tone and asked what's up. I explained to her and she made me a transfer of 30k to do anything I want, even though I plan to refund her whenever I can.

Now the thing is, I have made up my mind to sell my current system, add its money to the one she gave me and buy a better system but I am confused here.

A part of me wants to go into Web Development/Coding and another part, into Video Editing/Manipulation. Please nairaladers, which of those two is financially and time resourceful? Which can I learn in the space of 6 months and beging to earn from? (Plus I have no special technological background)

Or what other skill do you think I can garner within that period of time and with a laptop?

Please, put yourselves in my shoes to advise me.

Well it depends on you.are you creative? Video stuffs have to do with being creative if you r not you will be frustrated.you don't av to be visually creative to be a programmer.both are challenging to learn and both will offer you money based on how good u become.

These fields require prerequisite knowledge but with time you'd get better.

Video editing might require more than just a laptop, in the long run. Also, it might require more expertise because it's in the creative industry.
Gigs may be scarce too because most jobs would be handled by who shot it or directed it.
However, it's pays well but you may have to link up with directors, videographers and the likes to bring money home.

Web development is competitive and wont take as much time as Video Editing. Learning this can be boring at first (because it's coding), but it would bring money in faster till when you can add more skills. You can easily buy templates, edit them and fool your client.

Programming is great but a lot of people seem to be learning the web development part of it the wrong way. It's doable in six months to be profitable but I would advise you to find a niche immediately you get the basics.

I am also on this thought as you oo.
Sometimes why learning programming, my brain freezes and I say in my mind, "is this really for me"?.
But after researching, I discovered dat every beginner had that thinking.
My point now, it is not easy to get a video editing job unless u work as a freelancer, it is not as easy as programming job where u can get any where be it offline or online and pay is good.

I may not be the best, but I am really smart so I am creative and can grasp quickly. Thanks a lot.
