"Coronavirus panic is stupid." I don't hesitate to disagree with Elon Musk, but this is the truth.
Considering the new coronavirus, 2019-nCoV and the diseases caused by it, Covid-19, which spread rapidly all over the world, is a wrong statement, just as another smart and rich man told me last Monday: "Remember the H1N1-A virus in 2009? Neither have I. It infected a large part of the world and killed 20,000 American citizens, and we quickly overcame it. " He may have added that fewer than half of the 20,000 Americans died of flu and pneumonia in 2017.
H1N1, also known as swine flu, is a kind of influenza. The reproductive number (the number of carriers usually infected, referred to as R0 for short) is 1.75. The CDC estimates that H1N1 virus infected 60.8 million people, resulting in 12,469 deaths, with a mortality rate of 0.02%
This new coronavirus-not influenza-seems to have higher R0 and higher mortality.
