League Of Nigerian Youth Slam CNG Over Buhari, Military Criticism by IDanfulani(m): 5:18pm On Dec 20, 2020
League of Nigeria Youth Groups
has called on the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) to henceforth, cease attacking President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria's military and other security agencies.

The group expressed this in a statement signed by 17 independently affiliated groups.

"That we use this medium to call on the Coalition of Northern Groups to stop any further plot to blackmail and undermine our President; Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigeria's military and other security agencies," the statement said.

They further called the attention of the CNG leadership that out of the 18 Northern Youth Groups of the Coalition, 9 Groups have withdrawn their involvement in any further move of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) for obvious reasons such as:

"(a) CNG's continual broadcast and clandestine meetings aimed at inciting northern youths for tribal war which ultimately could lead to unnecessary rivalry and acrimony between the northern part of Nigeria and other parts of the country.

"(b) CNG leadership's link to suspected sponsors of banditry in Nigeria who are the top financiers of CNG thereby fuelling crisis against the government of President Buhari.

"(c) CNG's inability to come up with any meaningful strategy on how to help government win the war against Insurgency and Banditry, instead CNG is more interested in fueling crises through false alarms and incitive commentaries."

According to the statement titled, "Time To Stop Unnecessary Political Machinations Against The Federal Government Of Nigeria On Matters Of National Security" the group said their position was in the best interest of the country.

"We the Leaders of the various ethnic and social cultural youth organisations in Nigeria today, Thursday; 17th day of December, 2020 under the aegis of League of Nigeria Youth Groups after our emergency meeting on issues bordering on the state of our Nation Nigeria while acknowledging security challenges confronting our Nation have resolved as follows:

"We call on all wicked Politicians who are into sponsoring misguided youth to take up arms against their country and partake in unnecessary protest against the government and her agencies.

"We are aware of some members of the Nigerian Senate who have been recruiting youths in the Northern Region of the country to begin another round of #EndSars in Northern Nigeria in the name of #ENDINSECURITYNOW just to Blackmail the government and her security agencies," the statement said.

They said that, "instead of these clueless senators to better the lots of their constituencies they are busy causing crisis and unnecessary apprehension.

"Their failure to develop their constituencies is part of the reasons fuelling the insurgency and Armed banditry respectfully.

"While security agencies are up and doing to clear the insecurity created by some of these crooked politicians, the latter are busy calling for the resignation of service chiefs and heads of other security agencies at the same time lobbying for their stooges. We tend to wonder who will call for the resignation of who in Nigeria?

"The likes of Kashim Shettima, former governor of Borno State for example shouldn't have a place to live in a sane, organized and law enforcing and abiding society.

"Thus, the deliberate negligence of some of these wicked so called leaders to better the lots of their own people is one of the key factors exacerbating insecurity in Nigeria.

"Borno State for example, where Shettima was a governor for eight years is one of the most backward and under developed states in Nigeria in all human indices for development.

"Members of the Senate representing most of the crisis states of the North inability to positively engage the youths of their various constituencies has made the youths willing hands in the way of banditry and terrorism, they seem to be more comfortable using ignorant youths as political thugs and hired killers against formidable political opponents to perpetrate their selfish political gains.

"Most of our country's political leaders should be ashamed of themselves knowing that 73% of bandits terrorizing nigeria are not outsiders but people in the same senatorial villages - senatorial districts - speaking the same language, and the same culture with them.

"Our so called political leaders in the north especially in areas under serious terrorism and banditry attacks have the following questions to answer:
(a) what efforts did you make to ensure youths in your districts or constituencies doesn't go astray in the way of insurgency and banditry?
(b) what laws have you been able to enact to cushion idleness of youths in your senatorial districts and the nation at large?
(C) what is the impact of your constituency projects in uplifting the living standards of your people?
(d) How many times have you called for town hall meetings in your senatorial districts to sensitize traditional, religious, women and youths leaders about lawlessness insurgency and banditry?
(e) How many youths in your locality did you spur to violent acts in the course of your campaigns or the struggles for your political objectives?

"It is high time issues of security is not to be used to play politics.

"We believe the political class is the cause of the lingering pace of insecurity in our country, and the moment you want an end to various security challenges facing Nigeria, that same time insecurity will seize to exist in our country.

"The solution lies in your collective hands. You have created the ugly situation we are as a nation and it is you - not the security agencies or military that will clear the mess.

"As far as our organisations are concerned, the military have since done what they are supposed to do, the rest is for the political leaders to take champion the final stage for the enthronement of peace, security and development in Nigeria.

"This is the time to stop the blame game and accusations as well as politicization and bastardisation of security matters in Nigeria.

"It is the time for collective, concerted and harmonious actions by both political leaders, military leaders and heads of other relevant agencies to secure our country. We the nigerian youths are very much determined and committed to support you with our lives as shown by the civilian joint task forces in Borno, zamfara, Adamawa, Bauchi, katsina and many other states in Nigeria."

They therefore, called on the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari to look into local government administration, strengthen it by making sure that only duly elected council officials are allowed to be in charge of the local councils for effective response to issues of peace, security and development in their areas.

"We want to use this medium to salute all the security agencies especially the Nigerian police Force and the Armed forces of the federal republic of Nigeria for remaining steadfast in fighting all major security challenges 8n our country. We urge all security organisations in Nigeria not to allow any form of blackmail in any guise to dampen the morale of their personnel under any guise whatsoever," they .

Groups that signed: the statement include, Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria, Arewa Youth Council, Youth Assembly of Nigeria, National Association of Nigerian Students, National Youth Council of Nigeria and Nigerian Students' Parliament.

Others are Northern Youth Council, Oduduwa Youth Assembly, Niger Delta Youth Council, Muslim-Christian Youths Movement, National Association of Polytechnic students and Northern Youth Elders Congress.
