APPREHENSIVE about the surge in the second global wave of the COVID -19 pandemic, Governor Hope Uzodimma, has ordered an indefinite stay-at-home for workers beginning from today.

In a statewide broadcast yesterday in Owerri, the governor said the directive was part of measures to contain spread of the virus in all of Imo’s 27 local councils.

He also directed that any resident that fails to wear face mask in public should henceforth be arrested and tried at the mobile courts, adding that no gathering exceeding 100 in any part of the state would be tolerated.

Uzodimma restated that social distancing and other safety protocols were still much in place.

He reminded markets and public places on compulsory provision of washing facilities and sanitisers in strategic locations in line with Nigeria Centre of Disease Control (NCDC) and World Health Organisation (WHO) safety guidelines.
