Just arrived Lagos for the Christmas holiday and I still saw yellow danfo buses everywhere. For a state that prides itself as a mega city, is this acceptable

No

But the state gov't should introduce trams or mini trains around the municipal... It's way cheaper and faster .. and can decongest the city and reduce traffic... and lots of noise and air pollution.

Indeed it's not but the economic importance on both the drivers and commuters cannot be underrated.

Is there an alternative for the drivers ? No!

The solution would lie more on creating an alternative mode of employment for the countless number of drivers in Lagos. Then we can begin to talk about the cleansing

Those yellow bus are part of the identity and culture of Lagos. In as much they can be frustrating most times.
See them as a necessary evil, like tom and jerry.

its the reason BRT buses were introduced.

PS: there's no place in Sub Saharan Africa without "Danfo buses" even Johannesburg South Africa.

Mega city has nothing to do with pride or development it is a mere measure of populace but in a country like Nigeria and Lagos being the frontier of Nigeria jo the danios should not be there, we should have light rail commute in every single part of Lagos ( yes I’m aware construction is ongoing) and the BRT should be a lot more widespread stretching from each border with ogun to the border with Benin up to Eko Atlantic. And if something like danios are needed the government could acquire innoson 10 seater buses to use and loan them to the drivers.
