Chico Ejiro, a pioneer Nollywood film maker is dead, E-nigeria! reports.
The sudden death of Mr. Prolific as he is famously known among industry practitioners, friends and family had hit everyone like thunderbolt when it was announced in the early hours of Friday, December 25, 2020.

A serial block buster movie maker from way back 90s, Chico Ejiro is the younger brother of another veteran film make, Zeb Ejiro; together they dominated the Nollywood movie scene resulting in the discovery of wake making talents in the industry.

Sources informed E-nigeria! that Chico Ejiro has been in out of hospital for a while now, after he first had stroke.

E-nigeria! gathered that after he recovered appreciably Chico returned to movie set in Lagos. ‘It was there that he suffered a relapse. It started with a seizure but unfortunately, while being rushed to the hospital, he breathed his last’, and died’, a family source told this reporter.

In his mid-50s, Chico John Meziakpono Ejiro hailed from Isoko in Delta State. Born in Equatorial Guinea, his love for movie making worn admirations among movie lovers across board. His eldest brother, Peter Red Ejiro also moonlighted briefly with Nollywood, as the producer of Strange Woman, before returning to their hometown where he currently runs a film school.

Happily married to the love of his life, the ever industrious Joy Chico Ejiro, they are blessed with four children. Myriads of tributes have been pouring in since his death was announced. “He will be greatly missed”, said one of his crew members.
