I wonder if the Godfather is still close to the Park. We used to drink there as corpers in 2000 when Fayose was just a young rich man driving a green Jaguar.

Ado is peaceful and nice.

Beautiful project!

Every state in Nigeria should have a facility like these where citizens shall periodically visit to cool their heads.

Too many hot heads are walking our streets in Nigeria, without facilities for cooling off their heads.
Tourism centres are wonderful. Wisdom of building same is beyond just making money.

The place is empty oh, nobody as well as nothing to do.
Hopefully it will grow and have more activities if not I see it dying in a hurry.

Dying? Fajuyi park is not new, it has been there since the 60's or very early in the 70's. I actually liked the way it was as a somber grave not an amusement park.

Aguiyi Ironsi organised the first military coup in Nigeria. It was a bloody coup which led to the death of the first prime minister in Nigeria. In retalliation, some Northern military generals retaliated in a counter-coup leading to the death of Aguiyi Ironsi and Adekule Fajuyi.

Back to the story, he is a native of Ekiti State and a memorial park was built for him in the state. If you are looking for where to have fun this season. Fajuyi has facilities that will keep both adults and young ones entertained.

Entrance fee is 500 Naira, however, if you are planning to use your Digital camera, you will have to pay up to 20,000 to use it.

Adekunle Fajuyi, undoubtedly, one of the real but unsung heroes of Nigeria. A brave soldier and an Omoluabi per excellence !

He laid his life for his country, his boss (an Igbo man - Ironsi) and to uphold the professionalism of his profession ! What a man ! When the military killer party arrived at the government house in Agodi,Ibadan, they pleaded with him to hand over Ironsi to them. He declined by informing them that Ironsi was his guest and that he was responsible for his safety. He said he would rather die with him than to hand him over to them. They were both executed thereafter.

How do we define bravery again ? Isn't courage in the face of a certain calamity ? Col. Iluyomade braved all odds to face battalions of invading Biafran army at Ore with less than 200 men ! He knew he was grossly outnumbered and that the equipments at his disposal were no match for the biafrans but he told his men to hold their lines and fight ! He won the battle.

MKO Abiola refused to give up on the mandate freely given to him by Nigerians. He refused to back down even in the face of death. He did not run away cowardly and even refused political asylums offered by the world powers. Today,he is the father of the nation's democracy.

Yorubas are great, courageous and brave people who will never run away in the midst of battles. As a people,we are lovers of peace because we have paid our dues on the battlefield. We fought war more than any tribe in Africa.

I love Yoruba people, I love my people !

At the end it is not just to build but to maintain that is all that matters abeg. Everywhere looks good now but after some years it will become a sorry site.

Good man, real man, gallant soldier. May God continue to bless his soul. One of the real heroes of Nigeria, together with his senior compatriot Aguiyi-Ironsi.
But the God forsaken country called Nigeria will rather honor thieves like Abacha, and tribalists like Buhari.
It's shocking to still find Abacha's name on major highways and stadiums. We are really messed up people.

NO General Ironsin DID NOT organize the first military coup; he actually foiled it and was the reason the Nzeowgu boys did not establish government .
Major Ifejuna failed to arrest Ironsin and fled to Ghana.
ironically make Awolowo their Prime Minister. Captain Ude ( one of the plotters) was actually arrested in Calabar trying to free Chief Awolowo.
The foot soldiers used to make the coup successful in the North were all Northerners.
So whilst it was true, only Northern and Western military and civilian leaders were killed, Nzeowgu and Co were not tribalists. What Ibo tribalist risks his life to overthrow a government and makes a Yoruba man Prime Minister. ?
They were socialist leaning with great ideas , but poor execution.

Aguiyi Ironsi did not carry out the first coup in Nigeria. Instead he stopped it. OP get ur facts right. The first coup in Nigeria was done by some young revolutionary Soldiers comprising mostly igbos n Yorubas

You are correct!

However, there is a context in which General Ironsi was accused of staging a coup (after the first/main coup) with the acting president Nwafor Orizu while taking over the reigns of power:

Ironsi told us that” you either hand over as gentlemen or you hand-over by force”. Those were his words. Is that voluntary hand-over? So we did not hand over. We wanted an Acting Prime Minister to be in place but Ironsi forced us, and I use the word advisedly, to hand over to him. He was controlling the soldiers. The acting President, Nwafor Orizu, who did not cooperate with us, cooperated with the GOC. Dr. Orizu and the GOC prepared speeches which Nwafor Orizu broadcast handing over the government of the country to the army. I here state again categorically as a member of that cabinet that we did not hand-over voluntarily. It was a coup”.

Realstick941:
This is a historical blunder, ironsi did not stage a coup and
The only northern general was Brig Gen zakariya maimalari, who also died during the jan coup also known as the five major coup which was masterminded by major ifeajuna who ojukwu later killed for staging a foiled coup against him during the civil war

You may be right. He definitely wasn't a part of the Nzeowgu coup and was himself a target; but by the end of the day on January 15th; he may have taken advantage of the situation whether for himself or the good of the country and forced a handover.

. Aguiyi Ironsi was not the one who planned or executed the coup in 1966, he was actually the one who quelled it an arrested Nzeogwu and other couple plotters, the northern soldiers who felt aggrieved that their leaders where killed decided to retaliate by killing Ironsi who was in ibadan as a guest to Fajuyi the military governor of the western region. Fajuyi refused to allow the soldiers to kill Ironsi in his domain and was killed with Ironsi. In igbo land he is also seen as a hero and should be celebrated by any right thinking easterner, he gave his life trying to protect his boss. Nwanne di na MBA.

Re: The Adekunle Fajuyi Memorial Park In Ado Ekiti by NSK4U(m): 9:34pm On Dec 26, 2020
Adekunle Fajuyi, a Yoruba man who really proved that blood is thicker than water.

whether he sacrificed himself on the altar of brother, friend or master-boss relationship, only him knows which one gave him such courage but in all, the name- ADEKUNLE FAJUYI can never be forgotten each time Aguiyi Ironsi is mentioned.

He was never a tribalised bigot like many others of his time and if we had at least two of his likes in Yoruba land during his time, perhaps, we might not have been where we are today.

May his bravery possess his generation and may goodness never leave his house. God bless the soul of Adekunle Fajuyi, the only name that makes me coil into my shell when I feel offended by a Yoruba. it's a name that melts heart than anything.
