Illegal Demolition Of Properties By Abia State Govt by WolvyX5: 1:05pm On Jan 03, 2021
Names withheld. My father's property is on Old express Road. Aba North Abia State, along shoe plaza junction to be precise. It is also sandwiched between the popular shoe plaza market and Ariaria International A line market. Now on the 31st December 2020 around 2pm some unknown pple came to our area with caterpillars and bulldozers without priorinformation of any kind and started
demolishing/destroying shops and properties. They were also accompanied by armed policemen and Nigerian army personnel. We met with them to present us with a court order supporting the exercise and they declined in a hostile manner. After doing much damage on that day, they left by 6pm and promised to be back at a later date. They also said they were giving landlords living in storey buildings a grace period of a week to pack cause they were targeted next. However 2 days later they showed up on the 2nd of January, 2021 to carry out a second operation until they were resisted by some youths and dignatries.
Now my question is why wasn't any one notified if they were acting on behalf of the govt. And why was this exercise conveniently carried out during the festive period when courts and other instruments of Justice had closed office for the holidays ?? In summary it's quite clear that the Abia State govt is acting with impunity, trying to.avoid having a stakeholders meetings with landlords to avoid any form of compensation or resistance. Most of the said landlords Ave acquired said properties for over 40 decades. My dad being an example. And we have our C of O and other title documents all approved by the govt. We Ave reported d matter to the Abia State Police Area command Headquarters unfortunately the officers in charge weren't on sit. Meanwhile we are appealing to the Abia State govt to put a halt to this unwarranted destruction of properties. We pray they don't return at a later date and reduce the entire place into a rubble. This is indeed criminal of Abia State administration.
Below re attached pictures of said area. Pls let this information be circulated till we get justice.

Too bad, this is what lawlessness can cause.
