Apapa Extortion Is Killing Importers by teekay021: 8:08am On Jan 06, 2021
Nightmare of the importers   Apapa Extortion is killing the importers.
We are calling attention of Nigeria Government and also to express a great displeasure about the lengthy and perpetual extortion at Tin Can apapa. Its Horrendous and it has not yet received  government intrest and interventions while rendering importers into a situation of penultimate losses and complete bankruptcies.

Over 500,000 individual Containers were almost trapped sitting at TIN CAN port which valuables within could not meet the yuletide sales and accumulating as well exccess demurrage, and additional charges inflicted by automated Terminal operator on importers .

Negligence on the path of government, and mischievious and greedy intent of Port officials, has cause this unnecessary hardship and millions of Nigeria Naira have been lost needlessly Because the system permit and  encourage abnormally. We have sought the intervention of Custom department amd top hierarchy officials of the ports and rather its a situation of throwing blame around, from  gridlock,to the Terminal operators and even to the independent haulage and freight Company operated and allows in ports.

This poured out outrage presumably suggest perhaps  if anyone's care or  engage in cross borders trade that ply through Nigerian Ports,  however  the glaring reflection and domino effect of huge and greater proportion importation  have on other aspects of Nigeria Economy, Its unfathomable and absolutely redeculous, how in the name of bribe and greed government will allow millions of innocent individuals importer to be subjected to extortion of great magnitude and proportion,
Importers will encounter no obstacles in getting the container out of Europe ,North America or other part of faraway west, but Immediately the container reach  Nigeria ports, the anxiety and tension will rise up, and  not because the container violate contraband codes but because of the vindictiveness of the Port Operators and other officials.

Even though this mischievious practices from All Elements involved  in inspecting containers, logistics and all parasite feeding with gluttony from the importers purse, that constitutes official at the Nigerian Port Authority,  have engaged with this harmful and pervasive practices consistently for long. yet the government seems to be lacadasical about the ordeal and no action however was taking.

From December 2019 this extortion insanely graduated to avery absurd level with additional inclusion of #1.5 million for 40ft container for haulage cost of less that 15kilometer and obnoxious sum of #2.5 million to nearest or distance state.
Some Importers  are far away ,many can't even travel because of the pandemic, while there investment is placed at the mercy of swindler who cares not of how and what debt and  consequences the importers was subjected to incurred.
The  mainstream media have remain quiet on this matters and importers are left with inherited and inevitable losses.
We urge lagos state Government and the Federal Government to be alive to the plight of the importers , notting less than $34 billion in Q1 before pendemic (nairametrics stats) worth of goods were imported into Nigeria  Economics space, so to state Nigerian government do not benefit from importers is not completely correct and to reciprocate that major contributions to Economy by importers it is simply nice to extend some leniency and concerns to address the apapa Port aberration. Importers deserves some fair and enabling and Ameliorating atmosphere to conduct and sustain their trade.
Nevertheless to all individuals who are caught up with hike and inflating fees of individual or official whatever capacities that is contributing to excercerbate the situation of extortion,  we kindly appeal to your conscience and act in heart of humanity to safe a fellow citizen from unnecessary losses and agony.
Thanks.

Na the price range be that #3.3m or #3.4m after clearing n forwarding.

Funny thing is that the original price for the car abroad na around 1.8m or 2m. na import duty make the rest go up. I pity person wey just de consume alone in this country without selling.

It's less expensive to buy the car and get it to a Nigeria than to get it out of the Nigerian Ports.
