Donald Trump and the Cries of a Rigged out incumbent

President of United States of America Donald J. Trump would know his fate today as the final attempt to overturn his election defeat would be decided in a voting process in Washington DC. Trump was defeated by Joseph R. Biden in the last year's Presidential election in November. However his defeat has not gone down well with the Republican and the last two months have been filled with cries and screams of voter fraud.
Trump 74, came into power in 2016 after defeating his adversary, former Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton to become the country's 45th President. Donald Trump benefitted from the electoral College system as Hillary Clinton was ousted from her dream of becoming the first ever female President of the United States. Mrs Clinton, wife of former President Bill Clinton won the popular vote by two million but lost out on the Presidential seat due to the outcome of the electoral college.
Trump's Victory was heavily contested after it was confirmed that he will be President and all through his Presidency faced several investigations in connection with his role with the Russians in compromising the US election. Russia was blamed for Trump's Victory as it was claimed Moscow tampered with the voting process to ensure Clinton was defeated because of she was likely to give them a lot of problems if she had won.
The Muller Report became a national news as many of those in President's Trump camp were arrested and some sentenced to prison. Former Lawyer of Donald Trump , Michael Cohen was one of the casualties of the investigation with a 3 year jail sentence.
Trump was acquitted of all the charges as the report claimed there was no collusion.
President Trump also narrowly escaped an impeachment procedure in 2020 after being accused of making a phone call to Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky to open an investigation into Joe Biden's deals.
The President faced quite some challenges with the corona virus pandemic the biggest of them all. The President's response to the virus was not judged as not good enough, as it led to deaths of many american residents. Trump had claimed the virus was a hoax a statement that stood against him in the long run.
Also the black lives matter did him no good as it raised the odds against him. Many black American voters were against his re-election because he did not do enough to condemn the murder of George Floyd.
How the November 3rd election went
The election was largely dependent on mail voting because of the pandemic. Trump had urged his supporters to avoid voting by mail for fear of it being comprised.
As the election results trooped in the President was leading by about 600,000 votes only to fall way behind by morning, a scenario he attributes to fraud.
Donald Trump won more than 73 million votes, the second highest total in American history. Nationally, he has more than a 47% share of his vote, and looks to have won 24 states, including his beloved Florida and Texas.
He has an extraordinary hold over large swathes of this country, a visceral connection that among thousands of supporters has brought a near cult-like devotion.
After four years in the White House, his supporters studied the fine print of his presidency and clicked enthusiastically on the terms and conditions.
However even with the 73 million votes garnered he still lost to Joe Biden who had about 5 million more votes.
Logic of Trump's defeat
Donald Trump won the presidency in 2016 partly because he was a norm-busting political outsider who was prepared to say what had previously been unsayable.
But Donald Trump also lost the presidency in 2020 partly because he was a norm-busting political outsider who was prepared to say what had previously been unsayable.
Though much of the Trump base might well have voted for him if he had shot someone on Fifth Avenue, his infamous boast from four years ago, others who supported him four years ago were put off by his aggressive behaviour.
His strange boasts about being "a very stable genius" and the like. His promotion of conspiracy theories. His use of a lingua franca that sometimes made him sound more like a crime boss, such as when he described his former lawyer Michael Cohen, who reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors, as "a rat".
A Trump supporter in 2016, said he voted for Joe Biden.
"People are tired, "They want to see normalcy back in this country. They want to see decency. They want to see this hatred stop. They want to see this country united. And that together is going to bring Joe Biden the presidency."
Trump's reaction to the election defeat
The President had claimed widespread electoral fraud in most key states. He claimed to be the real winner of the election as votes belonging to him were switched to Joe Biden. Trump blamed the Dominion Voting Company of being collaborators of this fraud. His frequent tweets of election fraud become too overbearing.
Trump sought to the courts for justice but he failed to present real and substantial evidence of his claims. The courts threw out most of his claims as lacking in merit. Rudy Galliani Trump's new lawyer and former Mayor could not prove it either.
Trump has also sliced anyone who did not agree with his conspiracy theories or claims. Some loosing their jobs or being forced to resign as a consequence of this.
The Attorney General William Barr had to leave because he too stood his ground that the election was not fraudulent.
What I think
After four exhausting years, many voters simply wanted a presidency they could have on in the background - an occupant of the White House who would behave in a more conventional manner. They had tired of the infantile name-calling, the ugly language and the ceaseless confrontation. They wanted a return to some kind of normalcy.
The question of why Trump lost the presidency turns also on a more interesting and arguable question - when did he lose the presidency?
The President did himself no good with his actions. If the democrats actually wanted Trump out he gave them multiple reasons to facilitate his own defeat. His defeat did not begin on election night as much as he thinks. It was a cumulative of his four years in office marred by scandals of his victory, his emotional disposition towards his critics and his mishandling of key issues.
Take no credit from him, he did well in security and economy more than any President but his enemies focused on his weakness to kick him out. The election was filled with irregularities in truth. I mean the whole world can see. But Trump could still have lost even with the irregularities. The irregularities may have given him some hope that he was the real winner. But when you consider the amount of voter fraud compared to the margin of his defeat. The election fraud claims seems like a mirage.
As he seeks to make the last ditch effort to overturn his defeat. He must have at the back is mind that if he lost the election it was partly his own making and that whatever happened in November was merely the final piece of the jigsaw.
A man with his personality would find it hard to accept a defeat that has some stains of fraud attached to it. His disposition to the results is well understood but it doesn't validate anything.

Trump's defeat does not signal failure in his life or his political career but one of those things which one must accept as part of life. And should he loose his final appeal. He should end the cries and screams of a " rigged election"
