The last has not been heard of the gale of resignations trailing the Ebonyi state government, following the defection of Governor Dave Umahi from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in November last year.

The latest appointee to join the fray is the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Mr. Uzorma Ani, popularly known as Soul 2 Soul cited violence as the sole reason for his resignation, “despite the governor having a good heart”.

In his resignation obtained by Blueprint Friday, dated January 14, 2021, Ani, who also served Senior Technical Assistant to the governor, said he was neither safe in PDP nor APC as his structures kept being attacked by enemies of the Governor, even as he revealed that his life would continue to be at risk should he continue to serve in the Ebonyi State government.

The letter reads: “I’m constrained to notify Your Excellency about my decision to resign my appointment as Executive Assistant on Internal Security in your administration. This is apparently because of the need to play safe from further unbridled act of humiliation, victimization and terrorism which I have suffered in the hands of some unscrupulous elements, who are bent on destroying me for no just cause.

“Your Excellency Sir, you will recall that my travails started in November, 2018, when the structure I erected for use as former PDP Office in Onicha Igboeze was demolished by some irate youths. In your magnanimity, you had allocated to me the empty space which formerly served as your project construction site at Onicha when you handled the construction of Onicha/Isu road. Surprisingly, the community demolished the structure I put in place on the said site; on the spurious reason that they were not consulted before you handed over the site to me.

“Your excellency, the last straw that broke the camel’s back is the recent demolition, in a military fashion, of the structure I embarked upon at Umueziukwu Onicha, which was meant to serve as APC decretariat after its completion.

“Unfortunately, the marauders, who demolished the said structure and destroyed the APC flags thereof, attempted to attack me, despite the fact that I had alerted the authorities of the planned attack and demolition before it happened. And from the look of things, it is obvious that I am no longer safe serving in this administration.

“Therefore, I hereby tender my resignation letter in good faith. I most sincerely thank you immensely for the opportunity given to me to serve in your administration, first as a Senior Technical Assistant and later Executive Assistant.

“Nevertheless, I wish Your Excellency the best of luck in your future political endeavour because you are a good man with a good heart. My fervent prayer is that God will strengthen you with greater wisdom and good health in your unadulterated service to humanity.”

Story story. The community has shown that they don't want any APC flag or structure in their place and you are trying to force them because you are with the governor.
Make peace with your community if they are threatening you and pulling down your structures for whatever reason.
Stop disturbing the rest of us with your community problem.
