Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez could be set for a shock return to the Premier League - as Aston Villa manager.

Ironically, the man who he would replace at Villa Park, Gerard Houllier, is also a former manager at Anfield, but the Frenchman has not flourished with the Birmingham team.
Houllier recently admitted that his team are in a relegation battle, and having spent just a solitary season outside of the top flight in over 35 years, this is far below the expectations of Aston Villa fans.

Indeed, in the last three seasons they have finished 6th in the Premier League, and Villa fans no doubt hoped that with the big money signing of Darren Bent in January they would shoot up the table to continue that trend.
However, should Rafa Benitez join Aston Villa he will have a real job on convincing Ashley Young to stay at the club.
