let them falsify their ages, it will tell on dem physically, some of them will be going to classes with walking sticks. instead of dem to ask for better packages.

The best thing the government can do to compensate the teachers is to be fair and consistent in paying their salaries and adding a stress allowance to their monthly take home. And just after service, gratuity and other benefits should be given to them with regular bonus

It is poverty that will make teachers even consider or applaud this. Considering that many cut 10 years away from their age, they will be 75 when they retire!

Imagine high absenteeism due to old age issues.

Considering life expectancy is only about 52 years, I wonder what FG is playing at.

increasing the retirement age of teachers when there are many,vibrant,intelligent,fresh graduates to be employ.For God sake,who is really advancing the FG?they disengaged 500,000 npower beneficiaries to increased the service years of old and outdated teachers.Due to the alarming rate of unemployment in the Country,the Government ought to reduce the service years of all the teachers to 30 years to create room for fresh employment.

A step in the right direction. Salary structure must be enhanced to match that of Health Service Commission or other key & so called juicy parastatals ...etc NCC, NNPC. Continuous training very important to hone in on their skills. Working environment should be enhanced to retain the best hands. Teachers should not be regarded as inferior to those working in other parastatals. Human capital is key to national development. ICT deployment is critical to overall achievement of educational goals. This government has put on there thinking cap. Bravo!

Selfish individuals, why dont you increase recruitment age to 35. It seems even the parents are selfish they prefer to continue working even at old age while their graduate children remain at home jobless. why why and why?

I think it's a welcome development, but it is necessary for the FEC to review the salary structure of teachers as it is long overdue.
