Dr. Godwin Maduka who is a PDP governorship aspirant for Anambra State 2021 election who described the good people of Umunze as very industrious and politically minded as his kinsmen, in a detailed form explained to UPU, how he would build an International estate, expand the famous Nkwo Umunze with provision of modern facilities.

Dr. Godwin Maduka who is an astute property developer said he would engage the services of Marine Engineers, both foreign and local to provide water to the people of Umunze.

In the very words of Dr. Godwin Maduka who is known to keep to his words “this is not a campaign promise, my brothers and sisters from Umunze deserve the best. I remember when I used to walk miles from my town Umuchukwu, then Nkerehi with a huge can of red oil on my head to sale at Nkwo Umunze…by the time I get to Nkwo Umunze, my neck is stiffened …from the proceeds I will augment to pay my school fees at All Saints Grammar School Umunze and still come first in the class. It’s the Lord’s doing.

Under my watch, shortage of clean drinking water will be a thing of the past in Umunze. Nkwo Umunze will be provided with bore holes, modern toilet facilities and good parking spaces.
We are one, don’t allow anybody or anything to divide us. The blessings of God upon my life is that of inclusion for everyone to benefit.Umunze people made me what I am so I can’t forget them”

It was indeed a home coming for Dr. Godwin Maduka who exchanged banters with his classmates from Umunze in the good old days.

In his response, the President General, PG of Umunze, Chief John Akanyeonu in company of Representatives of all the villages in Umunze reaffirmed the support of the good people of Umunze for Dr. Godwin Maduka.


The PG insisted that its the turn of Orumba South to produce a Governor and that Dr. Godwin Maduka is eminently qualified to be the next Governor of Anambra State.

Chief Akanyeonu said old Aguata has taken their turn “Chief Andy Uba was a Governor, no matter how short, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezife was a Governor. They are from Old Aguata. Even in Senatorial seats, Orumba people have been denied the opportunity but Nnewi and others have enjoyed it. It’s time for our brothers and sisters from Old Aguata and the entire Anambra State to support our Son Dr. Godwin Maduka to be the next Governor of Anambra State”

I had time to interact with the common man in the streets of Umunze. I mean the Okada or motorcycle riders, the Keke operators, petty traders, various women associations and youths who unanimously endorsed the governorship aspiration of Dr. Godwin Maduka.

They kept saying “We want Dr. Godwin Maduka to be the next Governor of Anambra State so that he can develop Umunze just as he did in Umuchukwu. Dr. Godwin Maduka is a kind and generous man. We know he would make us, the people of Umunze happy. We are tired of promise and fail politicians. Dr. Godwin Maduka will definitely wipe away our tears”
