Immigration arrests 87 Nigeriens in Bauchi on polling day

Eighty-seven citizens of Niger Republic have been arrested in Bauchi Atate by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) during the postponed House of Representative and Senatorial election on Saturday.

This was disclosed to newsmen on Sunday by Bauchi State Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Haruna Sa’idu Dawop.

According to Dawop, the suspects were arrested in Yelwa area of Bauchi metropolis, saying they gained entrance into the state in large number on Friday, a day to the election.

“We carried out investigation which revealed that such huge numbers of foreigners were in the state; so we swung into action and arrested them.

“We observed that they may cause security threat to the election considering their large number and for them to come in to the state less than 24 hours before the commencement of the election.

“After careful interrogation, they confessed that they are not Nigerian citizens but that they came from Niger Republic and we are going to repatriate them back to their country before Monday’s election but they can come back to Nigeria if they want after the general election,” he stated

Dawop reiterated commitment of the immigration service to stop participation of immigrants in the general elections to ensure that Nigerians have free and credible elections.

If PDP wins this presidential election, be ready to suffer as Jonathan has nothing to offer. Just look at how much he met in the national treasury and how much is there now? Whe in the world he is promising 36 airports in a country that 95% of the population don't even fly? Why is he still talking about 7 point agenda? Jonathan had the chance to stop the purchase of three presidential jets, still he paid for it. What does Nigeria need three presidential jets for? The guy has no clue and nothing to offer Nigeria.
