There are many heretic teachings we have swallowed over the years and believed

It time to do away with this believes

1. Once saved, always saved ...na lie (Ezekiel 18 explain this ) also demas was saved but he backslided, we should serve God with fear and trembling.
“Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”
— Hebrews 10:38 (KJV)

2. . Divorce
Divorce, is only permissive if and only if your spouse becomes unfaithful (comit adultery). and you are not permitted to get married to another person, unless if that your spouse dies are you permitted to remarry.
Any other reason should be well sorted out before you marry, if after marriage you are no longer comfortable with the marriage, you can only separate, but divorce or remarry is not permitted.. if you go ahead and remarry , you have committed adultery

3. The devil is powerless
.na lie , if you are not fully covered by the blood of Jesus and his divine protection.. you be suya,(it took arch angel micheal and other angels to fight him out of heaven) the devil has power, but compare to God , he is not even a match.

4. grace covers our sins
.na lie... Only the blood of Jesus can cover sins ..grace is never a licensed to continue in sin , but a catalyst to aid our freedom form sins. Grace is only a reassurance that Jesus is our saviour and we can't save ourselves

5. tithe is "eaten" by pastor and not a must
Na lie.. tithe is a commandment given by God himself, that it favours the pastor's doesn't make it wrong sir. Even Abraham paid his tithe to Melchizedek, (Hebrews 7), If you don't redeem your tithes na u Sabi.

6. Drink but don't get drunk..na lie oo

Alcohol/strong drink intoxicates and hence it contains something that Christ Jesus won't be part of . No matter the quantity taken, once the content is not edifying it is not allowed into your system, as u are a temple of the Holy Ghost.and you shouldn't be defiling God's temple, because "ye are bought with a price".. imagine you just finished preaching to a sinner friend, only for the person to see you with a bottle of stout on your hand , how will it portray you being a child of God ?..you'll start doing lot of explanations. Flee from every appearance of Evil

7. God only look at the heart and not what we wear on our body na lie oo

Go and check Aaron's dress in the Bible, you will know God cares alot how how we dress , there should be a distinction between you and a unbeliever. Christian women are enjoyed to dress in modest apparels not flamboyantly or show off

8. There are other means to get to God aside Jesus Christ

you can't access the true God' without Jesus, , you may get thru to other gods posing as the true God', .but to Get to the only wise God (YAWH) , you can only so thru JESUS CHRIST ALONE

9. Being good is enough..na lie

Without salvation thru Jesus Christ, your good works alone cannot guarantee you

10 . Purgatory..na scam

It is appointed unto men to die once and after death na judgement simple.. nothing like purgatory

What in the world does Ezekiel 18 have to do with the "once saved always saved" doctrine which came in after Jesus Christ and not before? undecided

Salvation, from the condemnation of sin, came in with the New Covenant, so what does Ezekiel 18, where God abolishes generational curses, have to do with it? undecided

While you are at it... What is your understanding of Salvation?

Obviously, Salvation implies a saving from something... So what exactly are we saved from?
What is the end state of one who is saved, according to Jesus Christ or what is gained as a direct result of the salvation He offers? ... undecided

Once saved always saved is not scriptural

People misuse grace of God and feel once they have accepted Jesus as there Lord and saviour they are free from the ten commandments. The 10 commandments didn't change because Jesus came, it was only made easy to follow by Jesus, as the word is now written in our heart and not on a stone as during Moses era.

We are saved from many things thru Jesus death and resurrection..chief of which is SIN, . so being saved from sin only translate you from darkness to light.you are now aware that sin leads to death and hence you chose to be saved from the end life of a sinner by accepting Jesus Christ

however, we can still sin as we are not immune to sin since we live in a corrupt world, that was the more reason Paul said in Galatians 5, that we should walk In the spirit so that we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh..so it is possible to still sin , even after repentance or salvation experience...and as we know that the wages of sin is death ..so if you now claim that once you are saved, is always saved, how about the Sins you may have likely commited, whether intended or not intended? Where will u put that sin ?? Won't you be liable and held accountable?

First and foremost, I did not ask about your "once saved always saved" doctrine which is a lie. Any doctrine that supposes that one is "saved" from sin is a lie. undecided

John 3 vs 16-19 tells you instead that what you are instead saved from is the condemnation of sin... The penalty for sin which is death by perishing in the grave). undecided
The penalty for sin, which is death, was instituted by God in Genesis 2, a judgement which Adam did not escape for His unbelief in Genesis 3. undecided
God invokes this same penalty when He abolishes Generational curses from the Old Covenant laws in Ezekiel 18, stating that that as far as Israel is concernned, the one who sins must die(perish in the grave). undecided

Now, can you please get back to responding to my other questions.

1..Well, ezekiel 18 , says; the soul that sinneth, he shall die, (that is my reference) and if the righteous man dump his righteousness and and start to sin , his righteousness act will be forgotten,

Similarly if the unrighteousness man forsake his old wicked ways and repent , he will be pardon and forgiven and his sins will be forgotten. This portion of the Bible has more to do with God's position towards sin and HIS judgement than only generational curses.. so if the righteousness man can lose God's credibility after he start to sin, similarly God has not changed , if a Born again Christian start to sin , he will also lost God's credibility simple.

2.. salvation is accepting and confessing Christ JESUS as your saviour from SIN,(a condemned state, since all have sinned and come short of the glory of God) and believe HE died on the cross and rose again in your heart . This act brings about a supernatural change we called "being saved" it doesn't matter which religion you belong to , this is the only act that can guarantee salvation. What happens afterwards is personal to the person

3. The end state of one who is pardoned by God after he turn away from sin and start doing right according to Ezekiel 18 is that the person will not perish. Similarly

The end state of one who is saved from sin, (condemned state) Is eternal life with Christ Jesus in HIS Fathers mansion.. according to Jesus Christ

I am afraid you missed Jesus Christ's own explanation of Salvation, instead offering up a definition born of the doctrines of men. I asked you about what Jesus Christ Himself said on the subject, not for you to parrot your pastors and preachers in this.

As for Ezekiel 18, keeping to the law that context is King, reading in any meaning that is different from that conveyed in the context destroys the entire message. The entire chapter of Ezekial 18 begins with God swearing by His name, annuling generational curses, a law that is part of the Old covenant, in Israel. He, God, then goes on to explain exactly what there will be no more of and what will instead be. This declaration He makes, beginning from the very first cerse, to then last verse of that chapter, meaning the entire chapter is meant to be read and understood as a whole. Trying to tear it into pieces which it was not meant to be renders invalid the message of God contained.

Jesus Christ preach repentance to the Jews , He said except ye repent , ye shall likewise perish. Is there any much difference ?.. repentance is turning away form wrong to right , mind you , As at this time He hasn't been crucified and havent shed blood needed for remission of sins. Repentance of that time was more of works, it was after the death of Christ that we have to confess and believe to gain salvation because our works alone cannot save us. I hope you took note of this before relegating the mode of salvation I earlier stated

All this has absolutely nothing to do with any of the questions I asked you of Salvation or the reference you made to Ezekiel 18 though. undecided

Relegating mode of Salvation? undecided

Jesus Christ came and preach a completely different way from the on the news knew and were told off by their fathers. He came with a whole different Covenant, complete with Laws, Blessings, Curses, Seal, Burden, Ritual, and Promises - an everlasting package separate and complete on its own. Why this business of "relegating" mode of salvation? What in the world does that even mean? undecided

What do you mean by relegating mode of salvation.......

How is Jesus preaching completely different from that preached previously by the prophets of old?

Well, these days there is nothing typical about the understanding of Nigerians when it comes to Jesus Christ. These days you even have voodoo Christians who believe it is ok to practice paganism in the name of Jesus Christ. And then there are those who seem to believe that with Jesus Christ they are made descendants of Abraham and inheritors of the promise God have to Him, even though God was clear that the inheritance instead was to the descendants of Israel.
So for this, I would very much like to get a general knowledge of what you already believe of the teachings of Jesus Christ to at least get an idea of why you think or believe the New Covenant is as the Old Covenant is. undecided
