Curling, also known as curling and ice skating, is a kind of throwing competition on the ice with the team as the unit. It is the competition event of the Winter Olympic Games, and has curling World Championships. There are two events for men and women, with four players in each team. Curling is round and made of natural granite without mica in Scotland. All the natural granite used to make high-quality curling in the world is produced from an island off the coast of Scotland. Only the Scots master the technology of making world-class curling. The curling is about 91.44 cm in circumference, 11.43 cm in height (from the bottom to the top) and 19.96 kg in weight (including handle and bolt). Brush ice is to reduce the friction between curling and ice. Some people call curling "chess on ice", which is a good metaphor to explain the mystery and elegance of curling.

Ice skating originated in Scotland in the 14th century, and there are still 1511 year old stones (curling) in Scotland. High quality curling is made from fors Ellis, Scotland.

In 1795, the first skating club was founded in Scotland. In 1838, the first formal competition rules were formulated by the Scottish skating club.

Skating was introduced to Canada in 1807 and became popular in the United States since 1820. Since then, as a winter sport, skating has gradually developed in Europe and North America.

At the beginning of the 20th century, through the efforts of Canadian ice skaters, the rules and methods of the game were improved, and gradually moved from outdoor to indoor. The first national ice skating competition was held in 1927. The first world Skating Championships began in 1959, initially known as the Scotch Whisky cup, changed to the Canadian Silver broom Championships in 1968, and officially named the world Skating Championships in 1986.

In 1955, skating was introduced to Asia, and now it is very popular in Japan, Korea and other places.

In 1924, curling made its debut at the Winter Olympics in the form of a performance event. In 1966, the International Federation of skating was founded, and in 1991, it became the World Federation of skating, which was recognized by the International Olympic Committee. In 1924, 1932, 1936, 1964, 1968 and 1992, skating was listed as a Winter Olympic performance for six times. In 1993, the International Olympic Committee decided that since 1998, skating has been listed as an official event of the Winter Olympic Games. In Asia, skating has been listed as an official event since the 5th Asian Winter Games
