Use the bilkions for this plaza to construct a chain of huge fish farms, big ranches for cows and goats or poultry farms across the state in collaboration with seasoned farmers/entrepreneurs, and more jobs and sustainable productive industries will be guaranteed! But we like gigantic elephant projects in this country that will only sell Chinese goods while beutiful Ebony state still remains the a rural enclave..

It is not the duty of government to construct those things you listed. It is the job of individuals. The only thing government has to do is to build infrastructure necessary to enhance development

Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State has structurally completed the State International Mall.

the mall is presently at the finishing level.

Government can set out to use the huge amount involved as some sort of "soft loans" to SMEs operating within the state, to start off such agro-based industries across the state. Get one of the commercial banks to manage the process of disbursing such funds to the most technically gifted entrepreneurs in the field with the best business plan and instead of the business men going directly to obtain loans from these banks at cut throat interest rates, you as the government will provide these billions for such businesses. The Chinese have similar programs.. Doesn't make sense?

Hmmm............ building a mall to replicate the one in Dubai. Governments do not build malls..... they provide infrastructure. What he should be looking to replicate is the infrastructure in Dubai.... road network... great access to anywhere... did he not notice that?.... 24/7 electricity ..... 24/7 water at tap ...... communication systems in place.... low crime rate because of professional law enforcement.... and most of all the standard of living and spending power of those people. He missed all of these.... his responsibility to provide as governor..... saw only the mall. Great governor indeed.
Before he leaves office........ that mall will no longer be in the hands of the state... it will be in private hands......... hands with his fingerprints. Great governor indeed.

polo mall in Enugu is owned by the govt and I can tell you it's one of the biggest revenue generating edifice for the govt of enugu.no be everything Una go dey condemn,pls show us what your governor has done with your own money or keep quiete

Now you are talking bro. But a lot of people say it as though government should build and then employ people into the establishments. The thing is considering where the state was five years ago and looking at it today, the governor has done well in infrastructural development. At least he is starting from somewhere and I get your point too. I just think he is laying a foundation for a future economically viable state

Mr Governor, your state has the least number of civil servants. The general hospitals are lacking health worker, classrooms are lacking teachers. There are too many graduate that are jobless in the state.

This goes to show how unorganized, uninformed and retrogressive the Nigerian governments is in the way it runs it's economy. The government is supposed to provide sufficient basic amenities and infrastructure for the private sector to thrive on. Government primarily is supposed to provide good transportation, power, security, education business subsidies and other necessities while generating their income from taxes. The private sector grows and solidifies only when those things are put in place. Building luxury malls are unnecessary if the road networks in Abakiliki are terrible, and locales in Afikpo can't afford clean water. It will probably fold up in 3 years due to poor management.

Ebonyi state have one of the best road in Nigeria as well as free education and places like Abakaliki and Afipko have access to water as well.

The electrician's handling government projects in Ebonyi state are daft, not sophisticated, unqualified and bereft of ideas. It is so sickening to look at the poorly finished state of each project.


Now to the contractors handling the roads. The Cape stones are not solid, a good kick to it with a Timberland boot will see it shatter, you get to see loots of broken Cape stones weeks after project is done. ( I wouldn't give them my farm structure to construct if I were to build)

Nepotism wouldn't allow Nigerian leaders give projects to qualified personnel.

The international mall that can't cater for the needs of Ebonyi people....
Arguably, Ebonyi state is one of the impoverished states in the country.....

Mall for an Abakiliki man do not make sense. He should focus on their intellectual development. See colors everywhere as if na Montessori school
