6 Considerable Tips To Prepare The CCNA Exam by rfremote: 7:00am On Jan 30, 2021
Regularly cited by recruiters and hiring managers as one of the most sought-after certifications in the IT industry, the CCNA is one of the most valuable certifications you can have on your resume. In addition, it is required for most higher level Cisco certifications such as SCCP and CCDP (and, by extension, CCIE). Obtaining the CCNA demonstrates that you have the ability to configure and support a range of Cisco network devices, as well as a solid general knowledge of networking, network security, and wireless networking, all of which are necessary to support the modern enterprise network.

But before you can become CCNA, you must pass the Cisco 200-301 exam, which is required for certification. The CCNA exam is challenging, and passing it certainly requires a lot of work and effort. But with the right focus and preparation, passing the CCNA exam is an achievable goal. To get you started, here are some tips to use in preparing for your CCNA exam.

Establish a curriculum
The first order of business should be to define the direction of your individual study. Cisco offers a program for CCNA certification, with a list of topics to be covered. Review this list, print and publish it, and use it as a guide in the development of your personal study program. Remember, if it's not on the program, it's not on the exam, so limit your studies to the topics that Cisco highlights.

Identify your weaknesses
A good next step is to identify the areas in which you are weakest (hint: try a practice exam to help you identify these areas) and make them the focus of your study and practice. Highlight these areas and set a specific goal to fully understand each one. Don't necessarily overlook your strengths completely (you don't want to forget what you've already learned!), but by turning your weaknesses into strengths, you can greatly increase your chances of passing the CCNA test.

Take the time to study
The CCNA is not an easy exam to pass, and it covers many areas. And, like any technical discipline, if you don't work consistently, your knowledge and skills will fade away. Set aside regular, consistent study time and make sure you stick to it. Of course, it can be difficult to keep that time blocked, especially with all the daily responsibilities and distractions we all face. But the key to successful CCNA is frequent and consistent study and practice, so it is essential that you set this time aside, limit your distractions, and stick to the task at hand.

Focus on the details
It is not enough to know the theory behind the concepts presented in the CCNA program. To pass the CCNA test, you need to know how to perform tasks and understand how things are done in the world of Cisco. This is important because general networking concepts and the way Cisco does things are not always the same. Therefore, it is important to understand the details and the specific methods and procedures for implementing different networking technologies in the Cisco environment.

Practice all exam topics
Once your practice environment is up and running, make sure you take full advantage of it and practice implementing all possible protocols and configurations to see how everything works on the real equipment. Remember that things in real life don't always work the way they do "on paper", and just because a book or guide tells you that a given configuration will produce a given result, nothing beats seeing it for yourself, especially on these. (Fortunately rare) occasions when books are wrong.

The key to passing the CCNA test is preparation and a lot of it. To pass the test, you must understand network theory, facts, and practice, and be able to use the Cisco IOS interface easily, including specific commands and syntax. But, if you take the time to really learn the hardware and become familiar with Cisco routers and switches beforehand, you should find the test relatively easy to pass.

Access the equipment
This point cannot be stressed enough. A large part of the CCNA exam consists of performing tasks on simulated routers and switches, just as you would do in real life. That's why it's essential that you have practice time (preferably a batch of it) on Cisco equipment so that you can implement what you're studying in the current Cisco IOS environment. You can purchase or rent preconfigured sets of real Cisco routers and switches that contain all the equipment you will need to practice the exam, and these sets are not as expensive as you might think.
