Tummy time is important too. It helps with the neck muscles. Just put him on his tummy periodically and let him look around. I second the bumbo chairs! They're really great!

I wouldn't worry unduly about your baby's development, as compared to others. Every baby's different.

When you say he can't control his neck, do you mean he can't hold his head steady? Again, head control in babies is different. The same goes for sitting down. My daughter was a bit wobbly at 6 months, but now at almost 9, she's fine, and standing, whereas some babies were taking their first wobbly steps at 8 months old. We started placing her on her tummy at 3 months, so she was forced to raise her head, thus building her neck muscles. She also had her first tooth at 3 months, while some will not get any till their 6th month. So, lots of variation.

Obviously, if you're concerned, then I would get a second opinion, just to set your mind at rest. With regards to weight, what does your baby weigh now? Because it's not just the visual aspect, periodic weighing will give a better indication as to your baby's development. Walkers? Didn't know they were still in use. Neither myself, nor my two sisters used them, my daughter has never touched one either. Babies will stand, then take their first steps when they're ready. It's an instinct thing, they don't necessarily need to be taught.

At six months, you can start introducing your son to more solid foods (normally supplements are taken from their 4th month). White rice, mashed carrots, blended avocado pear etc. You can cut softer avocado pear into fingers, to encourage him to pick up and chew. I wouldn't start giving him adult Ribena yet, unless it's very, very weak and diluted, as it'll play havoc with his teeth, and make him really hyperactive. Baby juices are fine. I would also avoid orange, or any other citrus juice / fruit, as citric acid isn't good for milk teeth.

Oh, and if you decide to give him food you yourself eat, I would advice you cook it separately from yours, unless you don't take salt. It is important you do not introduce salt to your baby's food, their digestive systems are not able to handle too much salt, and salt poisoning could occur. I'm not trying to scare you, just telling it as it is. Which is why, if in doubt, it's best you don't give your baby food from your own plate, as you can't gauge the amount of salt a baby can deal with. This is one of the reasons baby solids taste rather bland. They don't contain added salt.

The general rule of thumb is, if you have any doubts concerning the suitability of solid / semi-solid foods for your baby, (excluding dedicated baby foods) then don't give it to him. It's always best to err on the side of caution, where babies are concerned.

True! No teeth yet for my babies. They are 6 months old, so 3 months behind your daughter. Avacado fingers sound good! I have to try that one. It seems like it would feel cool on their gums too. Sometimes after a day of heavy drooling I think I'm going to wake up to a tooth and none yet.

They also have these things called boppy pillows. They kind of wrap all the way around so that a baby can practice to sit and fall without hitting the floor.

All u need to do is give him "tummy time". Put him on his tummy and he will start carrying his head. I started when my baby was 2 weeks, would av started earlier but he was preterm. By the time he was 4 weeks, he could hold up his head and turn it while sleeping with just the occasional wobble when he wants to sleep.

Also, u could "press his body with hot water". The water is not boiling hot just hotter than normal like the one u use to press your stomach after giving birth. It makes their bones strong and agile.

Give him more solid foods than just pap. He is 6 months.

Teething powder won't make your baby's teeth appear any faster. It's mainly to soothe the gums when the teeth begin to come through, as they'll be pretty sore. It also makes baby less cranky - they get very irritable when they start teething. Generally, you'll know when your baby starts teething; besides being grumpy, he'll be dribbling more than usual. Invest in lots of bibs, and be prepared to be washing and drying 24/7!

With my daughter, we didn't use any teething powder, we just carved a fresh cucumber or carrot into a finger, and let her bite on it. It helps massage her gums. If you don't give your baby anything to chew on, he'll end up biting you, or the edge of tables etc, trying to get relief.

If you're not into baby cereals, there are lots of other foods your baby can take from his fourth month. White rice, mixed with milk (either formula, or your own expressed milk) mashed peas and potatoes, soft-boiled yam (no added salt). You can blend fresh fruit too, in different combinations. Avoid citrus fruit, or any sour fruit likely to be too acidic for your baby's delicate digestive system.

Good evening people please I’m confused. My ibo friend’s son is six months old and to our utmost surprise he is already standing well on his own so we posted pictures to celebrate him. However In her comment section, some people have been asking her if she knows what that means. Please what does it mean for a 6 month old baby to stand without support?
