Problems of entrepreneurship in Nigeria seem to be many. Yet, there are three major challenges that all budding entrepreneurs should expect and overcome.

These are lack of access to resources, absence of trust in a solution, and correct mentoring. The first two can be tackled by governments but the lack of knowledge and correct mentors will be the undoing of your enterprise.

In Nigeria, there is no room for failure if you are an entrepreneur. There has been a lot of improvement in the country's economy over the years. However, one of the major challenges that aspiring entrepreneurs will face is the lack of availability of capital.

Capital being tight in Nigeria is one of the major reasons behind the problems faced by most new business owners. There are many ways of raising capital such as through personal savings, bank loans, venture capitalists, or angel investors, but without the necessary expertise, resources, and support system it will all be waste of time.

There is no denying that some of these entrepreneurs have been unlucky in their beginnings of entrepreneurship. But being successful still does not mean that you end up being a success because there are still some other challenges that they will have to face such as problems of leadership.

Many would agree that at the end of the day, it is the leaders who determine the destiny of a business. This is why entrepreneurs need to possess the entrepreneurial mindset that will make their ventures stand out from the rest and be capable of overcoming any obstacles that might come their way.

Lack of knowledge about financial institutions and the legal requirements related to such institutions is one of the main reasons why most new business entrepreneurs fail to establish their ventures successfully.

Without the knowledge, most entrepreneurs will then opt for dealing with brokers or middlemen who will charge exorbitant fees for their services. In fact, this has become one of the main reasons why there is a serious lack of investment in entrepreneurship development.

Entrepreneurs need to educate themselves about the procedures and technicalities involved in financial institutions before getting into transactions with such institutions.

Another challenge that African entrepreneurs face is government policies regarding the protection of the economy. For example, all products coming from Nigeria have to be checked for contamination with pesticides and insecticides.

It is often very difficult for farmers to test products for contamination, as it can cost them their lives. Government policies in Nigeria favor only organic and fair-trade products that help in solving these issues.

In spite of the challenges posed by government policies, Africa's most popular sector continues to face challenges in its industrial policy. Freelancing has become very common in the field of architecture and design as well as engineering.

This has further led to the emergence of numerous informal industrial structures that provide employment to many people. However, most African entrepreneurs are unable to capitalize on this trend because they do not have access to the capital required to establish these structures. Lack of financial capital is perhaps the biggest challenge that the aspiring businessman will have to face when trying to establish an enterprise.

Problems of entrepreneurship development in Africa can also be attributed to the lack of venture capitalists available in the market. Most of the aspiring entrepreneurs in Africa are unable to obtain venture capital from their friends and relatives.

Lack of financial resources can hinder the growth of any enterprise, especially the African-based ones. As a result, most African countries have remained dependent on foreign capital to support their industrial policies and projects.

Venture capitalists require African businessmen to open their books and draw out plans about the strategies that they need to adapt to overcome problems of entrepreneurship development in the long run.

Finally, entrepreneurs in Africa face challenges in cash flow. Entrepreneurs have to find ways to create cash flow once their businesses get going. Without cash flow, businesses cannot sustain themselves and will eventually fail.

Entrepreneurship programs can help solve the cash flow problems that face African entrepreneurs. In addition, entrepreneurs can use their skills and talent to create new businesses or expand existing businesses. Source https://www.akinpedia.com/finance/
