Nnewi - It was great moments of joy on Sunday, January 31st, 2021 at the residence of Chief Sir Melie Onyejepu as many down trodden were present to receive palliatives as a result of second wave of COVID 19 pandemic, it also marked the kick starting of a 21 local government tour by the foundation.
In his opening remark, Sir Melie was full of thanks to those who made out time to honour his invite. In his speech, he enumerated the activities of the foundation over the years, touching mainly on the story of a boy who was supported for a kidney transplant saying he was happy that the boy is alive today and in good health. Furthermore, he also mentioned various scholarship schemes instituted for students at tertiary and secondary level of education, which has taken off the burden of tuition fees from so many indigent parents, emphasizing that for the society to make a headway, there was the need for government and good spirited individuals to always intervene in making sure that the intelligent children of the indigent parents around them get the best education for a better society.
Continuing, Sir Melie added that the aim of the second phase of the palliatives was for the reason that the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic is here with us and at the core of it all is nutrition. According to him, eating a healthy diet would always go a long way in helping to build up immunity and resistance with which the body can ward off intrusion of any foreign body in form of infection. He advised everyone to be very vigilant and keep up with all the COVID -19 protocols…wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining social distancing.
In various vote of thanks by eminent people who came to support the noble gesture by Ogbuefi Melie, a community woman leader Mrs Obunike, extolled the virtues of Melie and advised him not to rest on his oars, she thanked him immensely and prayed that God would continue to bless him and also create more opportunities in future for him in other to continue to touch lives.
The President General of Nnewichi Hon Cyril Okolo also testified how Sir Melie has used his good office to bring development to Nnewi community at large, he recounted the case of Mbuze Obiofia that was ravaging the community, swallowed several houses and opined that but for Melie’s intervention through the help of Anambra state government and world bank, the erosion menace would have affected a lot houses and business places.
The highlights of the event were the distribution of various food items and also cash gift to go with. The recipients were thankful and prayed that God should replenish the purse of Chief Sir Ogbuefi Melie.

Among those present at the event are; Hon Chike Agwuncha, Hon CY Okolo, Hon. Domnic Enumah , Prince Bobby Okwuosa, Hon Arinze Nwosu and Chief Hon Emma Nsoedo.
