Stella and Joy became friends when they were in primary school and have loved each other since then. Stella came from a very wealthy family while Joy came from a very poor family, even though Joy is a poor girl, that does not stop Stella from associating with her. Both of them are very intelligent and are highly regarded in the school. Stella and Joy are one of the school's poster students because of their brilliance.

Stella's parents are dedicated to education and have ensured their only daughter that education is the key thereby, telling her that she should focus on her studies and not follow bad friends. In Joy's case, her parents could not afford her school fees but because of her intelligence, she was awarded a scholarship from the Primary to the university level. The two friends are in SS3 and Joy is serving as the female prefect, while Stella is her assistant.

Some of their classmates are jealous of them while some are happy for them. The teachers love them so much for their effort towards education.
