Nothing Wrong In Granting Amnesty To Boko Haram Terrorists, Bandits – Nigerian Government
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, disclosed this on Wednesday.

The Nigerian government says granting amnesty to Boko Haram members, bandits, drug barons and militants is not a new thing.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking on AIT’s ‘Kakaaki’.

According to the minister, there is nothing wrong with granting amnesty to criminals if the purpose is to restore desired peace in affected areas.

Mohammed said it is unfair to criticise the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, for granting amnesty to bandits who once terrorised the North-West state.

He said, “When you are fighting insurgency, you use both kinetic and non-kinetic (means). Granting amnesty to notorious drug barons, notorious militants is not a new thing, it is not unique to Nigeria.

“You need to be in the shoes of the Zamfara State government or governor to appreciate the issues at stake (and) why he has done that. Don’t also forget that the state governors are their own chief security officers.

“When you are dealing with insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, you are interested in the bigger picture; how do we restore peace? If granting amnesty to one notorious kidnapper is going to give me peace in my state, I might take that decision. If granting amnesty to one repentant warlord would help me capture a thousand bandits, I might take that decision. Don’t just look at what is in the public place, understand the very high complexity of managing insurgency and banditry.

“The governor of a state understands the dynamics of the state and takes decisions but it will be unfair of us to criticise him (Matawalle) without knowing what he did and I want to believe the governors work together with the security forces in their own state, so, it is not as we think.”

Zamfara state government recently granted amnesty to Auwalun Daudawa, the leader of the gang of bandits that abducted over 300 schoolboys in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State late last year.

Daudawa and his gang on December 11, 2020 invaded the school, shooting indiscriminately to scare residents. The operation led to the disappearance of over 300 students.

The abduction happened when President Muhammadu Buhari was visiting his home state of Katsina.

After their release on December 17, 2020, Matawalle, said the boys were rescued through the help of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and that no ransom was paid.

For government to utter this statement it means we av already give up on war against terrorist. If FG knows that they will eventually grant armnesty to terrorist, why budget billions of Naira on security, is that not stupidity??

You can grant armnesty to terrorist but can freeze account of peaceful protesters or someone trying to defend his father land since government failed to step up to take the responsibility. Honestly speaking without being sentimental, the future of Nigeria is not guaranteed for the next generation if we continue like this, granting armnesty to terrorist is synonymous to fueling terrorism.

Simple! The government is BH and BH is the government.
Buhari once said "a fight against BH is a fight against the north" while Lai Mohammed said "Proscription of Ansaru/BH is unconstitutional."
http://thenationonlineng.net/acn-boko-harams-ban-violates-constitution/

This man is incredibly stupid for saying this shit while once comparing school deaths with terrorist kidnap of school children. So that it happened in the US & other nations now makes it a justifiable crime in Nigeria. No wonder this country is just stucked with imbeciles like this in government.

This is the same legendary liar called Lai Mohammed that was always running his mouth over any issue of insecurity when he was ACN scribe without any consideration of the aftermath effects as he is preaching now.

He was so treasonable that he even said "the proscription of the Ansaru(BHT) was unconstitutional" and also write the US not to sell weapons to the then Nigeria govt. Damnable hypocrite.

There is no need to look for any sponsors of BH because it have been incontrovert- ibly established that elements of this present government opposed the onslaught against BH from inception.Buhari started cancelling the SA machinaries fighting BH even before he mount the saddle.

They openly pay BH ransom, gave them a leeway in the alleged Dapchi girls kidnapped. Now they're now recycling terrorists as repentant and deradicalized terrorists. Meanwhile, they've also upgraded them to be receiving foreign education & even aspiring for leadership position in the future.

Everything is wrong with it. ND got amnesty from what was infringing their right - oil or oil money. BH should meet the Islamic supreme councils and get the Islamic amnesty from the zakat the imams are collecting nationally. Any future insurgency amnesty should come from what that region is contributing and not just some demonized head slamming mobsters using Quran interpretation to seek for bigger allocation and national cake.

They managed to proscribe IPOD but left BH alone. That's remarkable. Both of them want to break off and have been accused of similar crimes.

How do you even begin to explain this... you just indirectly called all the honest people in Nigeria "stupid"... like very stupid when you use their sweat(tax pays) to grant criminals amnesty..

How dumb can one be..

I was reading and lost interest when he compared BH boys/bandits to ND militants,

ND militants are fighting against marginalisation and quota system in nigeria as well as the better living of her ppl, their mundus operandi is to destroy facilities and cripple the mining process.

While BH boys fights against the believe of others in a fvck in secular country, they create their own law and enforce it, law that in now unscripted in our national constitution. They kill maim, torture innocent Nigerians.

If kidnappers are given the death sentence, then BH boys shouldn't be given anything short of that.
