In the midst of burning of communities, traditional institutions, weeping by servants of God as a result of failure of security agencies to protect lives and property, the President, Vision Africa International, Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, has called on the Federal Government to protect Nigerians before the country falls apart.

The Co-Chair Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace, who was speaking on the sideline of detoriorating security situations in the country, decried that people's Investments are being razed down particularly in Oyo State due to inability of security agents to stem the tide of insecurity in the country at large.

The Methodist Bishop wondered what the fate of the poor is since leaders are afraid of going to their communities for fear of the unknown, warning that if efforts are not targeted at addressing the situation now, the powerless will be left to lick their wounds as they have nowhere to run to.

The Global Peace Award Winner, 2013, who reiterated that peace is now a commodity that is scarce in Nigeria, called on the newly appointed Service Chiefs to swing into action immediately without further delays as their presence is yet to be felt in the area of safeguarding and securing of the country ranging from activities of bandits, insurgents, kidnapping and threats posed by killer herdsmen.

He revealed that reading disturbing stories of people recounting ordeals of escape from armed robbery scenes, kidnapping experiences, from bandits or from marauding killer herdsmen, makes him sick and wonder why those saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and property cannot nab the perpetrators who have made lives of the citizenry difficult.

Bishop Onuoha, who expressed optimism that the Service Chiefs are well aware of the various complaints of Nigerians for their predecessors to be replaced, also expressed hope that the Service Chiefs would leverage on what their immediate predecessors did regarding their approach to the fight against insecurity in various parts of the country.

He equally expressed worry over the stockpiling of weapons in different parts of the country, urging the Police, Custom and Immigration to check the arms proliferation in the country which according to him is part of the reason why insecurity is persistent in Nigeria.

At the end of the day na civilians n dey suffer am. The rate at which people are dying because of insecurity in this country is more than when covik kick started in America and France. All the security agencies turned to killers in disguise... Bandits, terrorists are everywhere instead for them to attack these set of people na innocent people dem dey face... At the end of the day we will say we have rule of law in black and white but not in reality. God help us oo
