On 14th February, 2020, Governor Douye Diri was sworn-in as the democratically elected governor of Bayelsa State after the court declared that he should be issued the certificate of return, and today makes it exactly one year of the enthronement of the administration dubbed ‘‘The Prosperity Administration“

From stabilizing the polity to civil service welfare and all round governance, Governor Douye Diri who have been showing sincerity of purpose since he assumed office, yearned for peace, unity and reconciliation to celebrate the anniversary.

Garnering support for his exemplary style of leadership, hitherto aggrieved members of the ruling party that jumped ship at the run up to the gubernatorial election have been won over and more people from opposition parties crossed over to PDP in the last one year.

Better described as a harvest of projects for Bayelsa State - the Glory of all Land, and notwithstanding the challenges posed by the pandemic, flooding and End SARS, below are achievements attained thus far;

1. Education sector:

• Provision of writing materials for pupils and students in public primary and secondary schools across the state.
• Equipping of boarding schools with state of the arts facilities.

• Awards of scholarship to pupils into the Ijaw National Academy as well as scholarship to the first female double class law graduate, Miss Ebizi Blessing Eradiri up to PhD in any university of her choice in the world.
• Training and retraining of teachers, renovation of public schools across the state.

Sustenance of subventions granted to NDU, UOF among others.

• Assisting local government areas with primary school teacher’s salaries.
2. Works and infrastructure.

• Re-award of contract for construction of Yenagoa to Oporoma road.
• Rehabilitation and repair of fifty internal roads in Yenagoa.
• Re-awarding of contract for Igbogene-AIT Outer Ring road.
• Re-award of contract for construction of Sagbama/Ekeremor road.
• Award of 4.5 Kilometer Igbedi road
• Re-award of Glory Drive road from ecumenical center, Igbogene to link Tombia-Amassoma road.
• Release of 2.6 billion naira to ministry of local government and community development to cater for community projects.
• Rehabilitation of Opokuma/Sabagreiaroad.
• Expansion of Edepie/Etegwe round-about.
• Nembe unity bridge
• Release of funds to meet up the operational licensing requirement of the Bayelsa state international Air-port.
• Release of funds for completion of failed portions of Imiringi bridge.

3. Agriculture.
• Provision of soft loans to farmers
• Diversification of the state economy through agric.
• Training of youths on fish, cassava, rice and plantain farming.
• Launch of operation feed.
• Released of funds for the resuscitation of the Bayelsa Palm and Plastic industry.

4. Sports
• Revamping of ailing traditional wrestling
• Sponsoring of champions of all champion competition.

5. Science and Technology.
• Training of youths on forex trading.
• Provision of skills acquisition for youths

6. Civil servants’ welfare;
• Provision of package to encourage hard work.
•Prompt payment of salaries since Feb. 2020.
• Monthly release of funds to offset retirees’ pension and gratuities- N200 million naira monthly

7. Security.
• Restore calm to Peremabiri that was engulf with crisis.
• Strengthening of the security agencies in the state by providing the necessary tools to protect lives and property.

8. Power sector:
• The power situation in Yenagoa and its environs has significantly improved.

9. Tourism.
• Sponsoring of Bayelsa contingents for the NAFEST competition.

10. Political Aides.
• Appointments of over nine thousand political aides.
• purchase of vehicles for top government functionaries and civil servants that are the engine room of government.

I see pictures of people but not pictures of projects, completed or in process.

All these Supreme Court governors should always try to work and make the people say Awwwww, see what we would have missed. But they keep disappointing.

Except for Zamfara governor sha.

Hope Uzodimma is even the worst.

Bucket of hot air.. After a year in office, we're supposed to be seeing completed projects on ground and not "training of youths in forex".. Abeg, who do una for that state biko ? The cluelessness is beyond outstanding
