OSUN: The Seventh-Day Adventist School of Nursing, Lagere, Ile Ife, has suspended about 8 students of the institution indefinitely after they held a demonstration to protest against poor feeding in the school.

In a suspension letter obtained by VAM News, issued by the school authorities on Wednesday to the student nurses, saying it would not tolerate “truancy,” meanwhile, our correspondent noting that the school did not address the problem of bad feeding which the students had rejected.

A copy of the letter obtained by this newspaper was signed by the Principal, Alao Moses, and one Tobiloba, as the Vice Principal, Student Affairs.

The letter was copied to the Chairman, Administrative Committee, Vice Principal, Spiritual Life, Vice Principal, Finance, and Vice Principal, Academics.

An insider said the eight affected students were: Part 3 students and Part 1 student.

“The school authorities failed to address the grievances of the students which were on the poor feeding. Rather it suspended the nursing students indefinitely for a silent protest. The student nurses did not turn up at the cafeteria to eat due to the poor feeding,” the insider said.

The letter dated February 17, 2021, was titled, “Notification of Indefinite Suspension.”

It reads, “Sequel to your action in inciting fellow student nurses on a silent protest against the school authorities on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, you are hereby sent on an indefinite suspension.

“As a faith-based institution whose interest is to train student nurses in moral and academic standing, we do not give room to truancy.

“You are to vacate the school premises immediately after receiving this letter and signing out the final clearance form. We do hope that this will help you develop a changed attitude to life.”

They are indirectly suppressing their freedom of expression.
This can cause many to become docile.
That's what has crippled most parts of the Nigerian fabric - suppression

And I am sure that a very huge chunk of money was required of each student as feeding expenses in their school fees budget. Yet they are being poorly fed. How do they expect them to assimilate what they are being taught? faith-based institution my arse. More like concentration camp nursing school.

This is just a simple matter.. They should have gone to the school cafeteria, and do what we usually do in boarding school those days when they cook horrifying meal like Amala with dry Okro soup, some Hausa soup they called meyankuka, toowo shinkafa ( don't know if the spellings was correct ) .. we used to use those to redesign parts of the cafeteria..painting it on the wall. deliberately drop the food all over the floor and act as if we were upset that it fell..

School of nursing don't tolerate protests from student nurses. And it's very archaic,as a student nurse, just school, mind your business, collect your RN and leave the school for them.
God help nursing in Nigeria.
