One of the basics of life, and the basic responsibility of the government of a society.

Yet, we had to dig our own borehole here in Lagos to be able to get water supply, right in the heart of the city.

The story is the same for many Lagosians, who either have to rely on boreholes or water tankers for their water supply.

We hype these governments and governors, yet day after day, they gloss over the basics, building castles in the sky.

Most Lagosians are drinking from "soakaway", if you do not know, sorry is your case. Everyone uses borehole which is more or less water from lagoon seeping into the ground. If you dig 50 feet you meet water. In some places like Island, Lekki, VI, etc, it is less than 20 feet. What you source at that level is lagoon water. Unfortunately, all those soakaway clearers or so empty their trucks into same lagoon untreated. So, the recycled poo mixes with lagoon water and people draw it in firm of their boreholes to drink, bath and cook.
Only few people have treatment plant at their borehole point. All my stay in Lagos, I lived down far from lagoon where you did upto 250 feet upwards to source borehole water. Even at that, you need to treat it.

For where? Have you heard people complain about water rate like they complain about PHCN? Are you surprised why? Everyone uses birehole. If your house does not have one, you will be patronising "mei ruwa".

We use water from the water board in Ikeja but its very epileptic. Most times we pay N700 to Mai Ruwa and it doesn't up to a week.

If you decide to drill your own, na so they go dey pursue upandan.

In Lagos, you'all rarely see businesses putting up signages. Seyi Tinubu will tax the hell out of you.
