The Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has claimed that farmers, just like the Fulani herdsmen are now bearing AK-47 rifles.

The governor made the claim while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Lalong lamented the proliferation of arms amongst the herdsmen and farmers in the country.

The Chairman, Northern Governors Forum, insisted that the only solution to the crisis is for the National Livestock Transformation Plan to be fully implemented.

“Today, we are now seeing the hazard of allowing people to do open grazing here and there,” he said.

“But they also want a solution; by the time you explain to them, they also want to stay in one place, they would also want to keep away from carrying AK-47 rifles.

”I’m not justifying anybody to carry AK-47, but don’t forget that in the course of our deliberations and investigations, it was not only Fulani herdsmen that were carrying AK-47 rifles, even farmers were carrying AK-47.”

In the East for example, have been so many cases of communal clashes and people going to farms armed with rifles.

We heard of the non ending crisis between border communities of Ebonyi and cross river

And so on.....

However, many of those deaths are dished to us as Fulani killings
