The Bello Ambassadors Network (BAN), a youth organisation that has volunteered to mobilize support for the Presidential bid of Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in 2023, has been launched in Abuja.

National Coordinator of the network, Anthony Edogbo, described Bello as a governor who prioritizes meritocracy in all his dealings without considering tribal and religious differences, saying he is the leader Nigeria needs.

He said Nigeria is a nation with a youth population of over 33 million, but sadly over the years, hasfailed to utilize its numerical strength, creativity and powers towards building the Nigeria of the people’s dreams.

He said they desired a Nigeria where every tribe, gender and religion is given equal opportunities to thrive and contribute towards national development.

He said the people need a country that prioritizes healthcare and education, security, economic and infrastructural development.

“The above we have seen in a state which we call the microcosm of Nigeria. A state bounded by 11 others, the confluence of opportunities, enriched with a rich cultural heritage and most dearly to us, governed by one of our own, a fellow youth who have shown exceptional leadership qualities and attributes. A Governor who prioritizes meritocracy in all his dealings without considering tribal and religious differences; that is the leader of our dreams. In him, we have seen courage, intelligence and love for every Nigerian,” Edogbo said.

He said within 96 hours following the release of their website, www.ban2023.org, it hit over 320,000 members.

This is a feat that was made possible because of the passion, love and agitation of youths across Nigeria for the actualization of a youthful and responsive national leadership.

“I am pleased to officially welcome you all to the formal inauguration of this network of young Nigerians from across the six (6) geopolitical zones and thirty-six (36) states of the federation- Bello Ambassadors Network, where we strongly believe in the New Nigeria Dream. Our support is borne out of the urgent need to promote the youth agenda and support one of our own; Governor Yahaya Bello, the reason we are all seated here today.

“As the youngest Governor in Nigeria, Governor Yahaya Bello has built a cabinet of young Nigerians including me, the youngest political appointee in Nigeria. On a very personal note, Governor Yahaya Bello never for once asked about my tribe nor religion before appointing me. His only interest was my youthfulness and capability; the exact definition of the 21st century leader of our dreams.

“Right now, we are joined in a great national effort to build our organization and to fulfill its promise for all of our people. Together, we shall all determine the course of BAN for the next 859 days to come; the 2023 presidential elections.

Distinguished Ambassadors and volunteers of this movement, I’m proud to tell you that what we are unveiling today will mark one of the biggest ever passion-driven network that will raise dusts not just in Abuja here, but across Nigeria and the globe.

“Our diaspora Ambassadors shall be unveiling BAN in their various countries in the coming days. Let me also inform you that BAN has been officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, and together with all her members and coordinators, we shall be making public our constitution and modus operandi.

As founder of this organization and national coordinator, I have an immediate agenda targeted not just at hitting our five (5) million membership target by December 2021, but also at reaching out to every Nigerian through door to door awareness and sensitization for the 2023 year.

“Amongst several others, our aims and objectives include mobilization of Nigerians from different states to support the BAN2023 agenda, the provision of support/ information to state entities and organization of exploratory and outreach events across the federation to bring you the best in terms of delivery. BAN has a network of registered doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals, lawyers, bankers, engineers, teachers, undergraduate students, youths from different organizations, every caliber of person, mostly young Nigerians who are ready to contribute immensely to make us achieve this objectives.

“Our ultimate structure shall include regional coordinators, state chapter coordinators which we shall be breaking down to local government levels and ward coordinators. We have student ambassadors, heads of institutions and student organizations who are also heavily represented here today, my own personal caucus.

“Let me at this point request your continued support to this movement, online and offline towards achieving our ultimate goal. Following this formal launch today, we shall be coming down to state levels and local government levels to preach the BAN agenda, the Yahaya Bello agenda, the New Nigeria agenda,” he said.

Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja, who represented Bello at the elaborate event, said Nigeria is only bedeviled by leadership problems as the country is richly blessed with human and natural resources, adequate landmass and an absence of natural disasters.

“Why are we where we are as the giant of Africa. The question has always revolved around leadership and leadership in summary is ability to manage and harness both the natural human and resources for the benefit of all,” he said.

Onoja said Governor Bello has antecedents of excellence in every area of his life that can be easily identified.

He said though the greatest challenge in the country is the rising spate of insecurity, Kogi State was witnessing looking a drastic reduction in the problem.

“The story of Kogi has moved from worse to better headed to best. Even as the matter of insecurity is going on abated in parts of the country, the governor has dealt squarely with the matter of insecurity. We want to go into the future with a leader that is extrapolating what is happening in Kogi nationally,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to the network for their confidence in him and promised his support as he urged them to go on mobilizing and networking across country.

The governor’s Chief of Staff, Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, described Bello as the man of the moment and the future.

He said Bello was an extraordinary democrat, who had shown excellence in leadership.

Asuku said the governor had successfully built a cabinet of young Nigerians irrespective of tribe, gender and religion.

He said Bello had recorded feats in security, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, education, health care, infrastructure and others and he deserved national recognition.

According to him, the temperature of the country needs someone like Bello, who is a stabilizer, peacemaker and unifier.

This man was the worst governor in his first four years.

He has literally packed up on his second term to run a dead presidential campaign at the expense of development to kogi

It's high time power returned to youth come 2023
The likes of Obasanjo and Buhari held power when they were less than 40years of age.
I stand with Yahaya Bello
