First concern is land, if you'll grow fodder that the cows will eat then you'll consider getting a larger space.
Then comes selecting the right species to breed.
You can learn a thing or two or YouTube.
Then it'll be nice to have a veterinarian not too far than you can consult.
All these are being said with the assumption that you have necessary funding available.

please how does artificial insemination work?

Once you have your stock of female local cows...
U call those experts on AI...
We have them in livestock research centres...
They always have exotic cows semen...
They introduce the semen to the female cows with
their hands and equipment...
Pregnancy will be confirmed at a later date...
Voila ... u have your F1 generation of cow
Note AI is done for a fee
Hybrid of local cow and the exotic cow..

This advice is spot on.

Although, it may be very challenging to raise cattle in an intensive system, and still make good returns. First do apprenticeship with people who have been doing that, as it stands I've only heard of one farm in the east. There you can get a mentor.

There's a ratio of Acreage per cattle you intend to raise.
Example is 1 and 1/2 acre per cow.
I can't remember again, but you'll need large pieces of land. (Many hectares)

You'll have to clear the land, leaving only a few trees at strategic spots for the cattle to take shade when it's sunny. (You will also need to find a way to get water to them while they rest, You can cut a large GP tank in half, and use hose to pass the water down here)

As Willie2015 said, you'll need good secured facility for them to stay at night and when it's rainy. The local vigilante must be your most paid employees. Cattle rustling is a very big threat, they can even kill whoever is on the farm at that time just to perpetrate this evil act.

You also need to have a good running relationship with the mentor, so you can always call when you experience challenges. (Very inevitable)

Also note that cows hardly ever give birth to more than one calf in a year. So expanding your farm will be a real exercise in patience. You must be more patient than Mahatma Gandi.

You'll also need ear tags for record keeping purpose. It's very very essential in cow breeding, and their health record must be kept just like dog breeding.

Sourcing for cheap feeds like PKC, Brewers waste, maize chaff and the likes can help supplement their feeding, but it'll cost you a ton of money to transport them Everytime to your farm. Cows eat a lot of food daily in Kilos.

Another cheap feed can be plating maize in an hydroponic system, the maize grows within 10 days, and 50kg seeds can translate to about 500kg hydroponic fodder, meaning more food at lesser cost. But this isn't a stand alone feed.

Above all you need Grace and plenty of money to tackle issues as they arise. So are you still game?
