Cost Analysis for 10 Acres of Oil Palm Plantation.

FIXED ASSET.
Presently, farm land (in a village) is around #150,000 per acre

10 acres will give (10*#150,000)

#1,500,000 (at rate of #150,000/ acre)

Let estimate #300,000 for land papers (Lawyer and surveyor)

Cost Of Land - #1,800,000.

A Palm seedlings (super gene) cost #1,200/Seedling.

60 stands of seedlings will stand on the farm land of 1acre of land at the distace of 9m x 9m x 9m ( triangle style).

If 60 will be on an acre of land, 10 acres will be;

60 x 10acres = 600 stands.

If a supergene cost #1,200

600 stands = 600 x #1200 = # 720,000

Cost of seedlings = #720,000.


VARIABLE COST.

Land Clearing - #100,000

Planting - #150,000

Fertilizer - #150,000

Weeding machine - #55,000 × 3
= #165,000

Harvester – -#200,000 (estimated)

Others – - #400,000

TOTAL COST OF PRODUCTION (TC) = Total fixed cost (TFC) + Total variable cost (TVC)

TFC = land cost + cost of seedlings

#1,800,000 +#720,000

TFC= #2,520,000

TVC = Land Clearing +Planting+Fertilizer +Weeding machine + Harvester + Others

100,000 +150,000 + 150,000 + 165,000 + 200,000 + 400,000

TVC = #1,165,000

TOTAL COST = TFC + TVC

= #2,735,000 + #1,165,000

TOTAL COST = #3,685,000.


PROFITABILITY IN OIL PALM FARMING

That there is gain in oil palm farming is not in doubt. Everything about the tree is money.
Supergene oil palm trees produces up to 7tons to 8tons in the first few years of production and can yield up to 50tons of red palm oil annually for an hectare of farmland when the trees are fully matured.

WORKING WITH 10ACRES FOR THE FIRST FOUR YEARS OF PRODUCTION.

2.5acres of land = 1hectare of land .

Therefore,
10acres of land = 4hectares of land
7 tons x 4 hectare = 28tons.

A ton of palm oil goes for #370,000 (Not constant)

#370,000 x 28 = #10,360,000

This is only for the red palm oil.
There are other products of the Oil palm tree like PKO,PKC, palm sledge,palm fond etc.

An hectare can produce 3 tons of palm kernel oil (PKO)

3 tons x 4 hectare = 12 tons
A ton goes for #400,000(Not constant)
#400,000 x 12 = #4,800,000

Palm kernel oil + Palm oil = 15,160,000

This estimate is just for the early years of production,With continuous increase in yield in the subsequent years, the revenue generated increase too without an increase in maintenance cost.

If this kind of money is realized from just 2 out of many other products, then you should know that going into oil palm farming business is the best decision to make. It can serve for retirement days and can be passed on to the next generation.

When its ripens the harvesting is done at interval of 10- 14 days until there's nothing to harvest anymore for that year.
