Hanging Mary was very brutal, and not a good punitive measure.

Oh, poor Mary.

And the person Mary killed?
What are you saying about that?

Well, that's why it's good for everyone to study history.
But useless Nigerian government struck it off from the secondary School curriculum.

For years, Big Mary worked for the Sparks World Famous Shows traveling circus, where she entertained people from coast to coast. That all came to a crashing halt in 1916, when the town of Erwin, Tennessee arrested Mary for murdering a trainer who beat her with a hook. They later hanged her from a crane in front of a crowd of spectators.

This is tragic.

It belongs in the wild

A woman of the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Mangbetu tribe holds her child, circa 1929-1937.

The Mangbetu once practiced Lipombo, a tradition in which a baby's head was wrapped tightly with a cloth in order to achieve an elongated skull, believed to be a mark of beauty.

Why do Africans always have this weird traditions? Breast ironing, head elongation, nose elongation, ear elongation, just name them. angry

even cgtn does not mention this

Maybe they're being partial.

I read about it in a magazine a long time ago though. It was a norm then, a 'necessity' for being the perfect girl/bride

The poor darling. To live in servitude to a cruel master and then die for defending yourself and in such a spectacle. Poor poor thing.

... Provoked and goaded the poor thing. If you know anything about how elephants are abused to get them to learn tricks and make performers out of them... Especially at that time period when man treated fellow man like a beast of burden because of skin colour, hmm you can imagine what kind of treatment was meted out to actual animals. The poor thing had been building up to that moment for years. I find it hard to watch documentaries about animal rescues and rehabilitation where they show the prior conditions of the animals. Some Humans can be like a virus, destroying everything good in their path to get money.
