No one religion or mystic agree with another on this. My own humble opinion is that man is a soul from the very first second of conception. If afterlife is real, he still continues as a soul.

Soul means the personality apart from the bodies that looks almost the same. Each of us is a soul, a bird, a fly, a cow, a dog, a fowl each of these creatures is a soul. That's why you can't just walk up into a house, kill their pet and offer to buy another one just as you can't kill a child and tell the parents you'll replace the child with yours even if they're the same height, weight, shape and skin colour!
Cloning has solved the mystery of soul long ago because no matter how a creature is cloned the original totally differs from imitation. So we can say the soul is the character, even when a person is cloned his love, hatred and hobbies dies with him {Ecclesiastes 9:6} that's why Jesus separates the body from soul when talking about how humans destroys and how God destroys. {Matthew 10:28} Man can only destroy the body while the character lives in God's memory book {Genesis 4:10} but when God destroys both the body and soul (character) is gone forever! Ezekiel 18:4
There was no Adam before creation so when God said Adam will return to dust he meant Adam and his wife Eve are destroyed completely as in wiped out from existence! Genesis 2:17, 3:19

This is what the Bible says (I'm answering for the Christian worldview):

7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV)

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
1 Corinthians 15:45 (KJV)

The Bible then does not hold that we have a soul. It teaches instead that when a spirit is put into an earthly body, the resulting "thing" is a soul. This is why living but unresurrected human beings (see quotes above) and animals (Job 12:10 KJV, for example) are called souls.

If your question then is "when does God put a spirit into a body?" the answer is "after He has finished forming the body.

As we can see from Genesis 2:7 quoted above, the Lord God put a spirit into the body of the man He created only after He had given the body its form. The same thing happens with babies. After the body has been formed, at birth, the Lord God creates a spirit and puts it into the fully formed body.

This does not mean that abortion is in any sense okay. It may not be a human person who is killed when a fetus is aborted, but it is most certainly the vessel that would have belonged to a human person that was destroyed, and that pretty much amounts to the same thing.

As early as two weeks after conception. The feotus is already conciouse.....

It is the responsibility of every woman to carry it to term..regardless of hiw she conceived..

According to Islam

I think the soul is inside the spermatozoa of both male and female before sex.

Sex is more like releasing of evil spirit ( sperm) from the body..

There's no such thing as “soul” that is different from the mind.

Just like a rat, you are an animal. However, humans believe they have developed their cognitive abilities better than other animals. In fact, it takes a lot of intelligence to set up one well-coordinated religion, not to talk of hundreds.

The “Soul” is just one of the terms “spiritual” people coined to give their miserable lives meaning. It's a mere social engineering term.

To answer your question: The mind develops over time. Your environment, parents, circle, and the society contributes a lot to the formation of the mind.

The soul is the entire creature, not something inside that survives the death of the body. When Jehovah God created the first man, Adam, the Bible says that “man became a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7, King James Version) Adam was not given a soul​—he became a living soul or person. So, as soon as conception happens in the womb, we (man) became a living soul.
