Frankly, you are an adult who can differentiate between right and wrong. In fact, you know the consequences of an action, inaction and sitting on the fence. Similarly,

• You know the consequences of not developing yourself on a daily basis.
• You know the long term effect when you don’t grow.
• You know that it is through constant growth and development in your field that you make yourself almost indispensable.
• You know the consequences when you make excuses for not expanding your knowledge.
• You know the consequences when you delay- “Delay is dangerous”, you acknowledged.
• Ultimately, you know the consequences when you give up on yourself. That is, deciding that you have learned a lot and there is no need again.

Now, the question is despite knowing these consequences, you still fall prey of one or two of the above because of one simple reason.

This simple reason took me years of painful experience to discover and I wonder how many people have gone through life without knowing this. This simple reason is one of the fundamental laws of success in any of life's endeavours.

Although, just as you can only take a horse to the river but you cannot force it to drink water, so also I can’t force you to do what you don’t want to do.

According to Joel Osteen, choosing to be positive and having a grateful attitude is going to determine how you're going to live your life.

Simply put, ALTITUDE. Broken down further- Discipline and character-

For instance, the government mandated that the dangers of smoking be printed in great big letters on packs of Cigarettes under faulty notion that if people just knew the dangers of smoking, no one would smoke.

Likewise, you know that you are in a competitive environment and daily improvement in your skills is key to your success.

However, you still decide not to take action because of the lack of discipline and character, you have formed over time. Although, it is not your fault, but you will always and forever bear the consequences.

So, knowing what you now know what will you really do differently? This is a question for thought.
